For over 180 years Martin have produced a huge range of guitars that have premium features to guarantee a great, long-lasting sound. The DCPA4 model hails from the superb Performing Artist series and is constructed using solid tonewoods which form a sublime partnership with the body shape to produce a classic Martin acoustic timbre. The DCPA4 has the ability to really boost your sound and is gig-ready with the onboard Fishman electronics.
Martin created the dreadnought guitar body shape many years ago and it remains one of the most popular and most recognisable types of guitar. The DCPA4 has a dreadnought body profile with a single cutaway which feels comfortable against the body whether sitting or standing. Dreadnoughts offer a balanced yet versatile range of tones as well as a great level of sustain for a full-bodied sound.
SUSTAINABLE, SUPERIOR TONEWOODS
The DCPA4 has been provided with a solid sitka spruce top and have used a Hybrid "X" Scalloped bracing technique underneath. This type of bracing combines scalloped bracing with A-frame technology. This relieves some of its body weight but also reinforces the body top at the same time, allowing the guitar to vibrate freely while also being robust enough to endure hours of play.
The back and sides of the DCPA4 are constructed using sapele tonewood which is a highly sustainable wood that works really well with the orchestra dreadnought body.
PERFORMING ARTIST NECK
A select hardwood neck is firmly fitted to the body and is a standout feature of this model. The neck has a Performing Artist profile which is slimmer thus promoting faster, easier playability. The neck tapers more slightly at the 12th fret, so incorporated with the cutaway in the body this allows for a much easier reach to the upper frets.
Married to the neck is a black richlite fingerboard adorned with white ABS offset dot inlays to guide you. Unlike many other guitars, Martin choose for 14 of the frets to be open instead of just 12, so with the cutaway in the body this allows you to access the higher frets more easily.
FISHMAN F1 ANALOG ELECTRONICS
Martin have fitted Fishman F1 Analog electronics to the DCPA4 guitar making it ready for the stage. It has two controls, one for tone and the other for volume, just plug in using a ¼ inch instrument cable and it’s ready to play through an amplifier. The F1 also includes a built-in tuner which has an easy-to-read light up display so you can retune your guitar with minimal effort on stage. The F1 Analog battery can last up to 185 hours of continuous use, and a low battery LED indicator will show you when you need to recharge.
HARDWARE AND FINISH
The headstock is fitted with Chrome enclosed tuning machines with large buttons and uphold tuning integrity with precision. The Performing Artist belly bridge makes a strong connection between the strings and the guitar body which means you can play for hours on end both with confidence.
The slick natural finish of the guitar is further complemented by a decorative two ring soundhole rosette and a tortoise pickguard which also protects the soundboard from dirt or scratches. Martin also include a guitar case with the DCPA4 to help you protect it on the road or store it safely.
Martin have a wealth of experience in making some of the best acoustic and electro acoustic guitars, and the Performing Artist DCPA4 is a prime choice for players who enjoy performing live on stage as it is guaranteed to captivate your audience.
