Introducing the Martin OM-21 Acoustic Guitar, a compact model that is packed with top quality features. For nearly two centuries, Martin have been crafting excellent guitars that use a superior blend of tonewoods to ensure the best possible sound. The OM-21 has been built using tried and tested luthier techniques combined with exquisite appointments and is one remarkable dreadnought guitar.
DREADNOUGHT BODY PROFILE
For many years, the dreadnought shape has been one of the most instantly recognisable body types on a guitar. It offers great sustain and plenty of volume whether you strum or play fingerstyle. The tonal range that a dreadnought can project is balanced, with deep bass to sleek highs. The shape looks and feels great to play and is robust enough to take on hours of strumming.
Solid sitka spruce wood is employed to construct the top of the guitar due to its resilience and ability to harvest an articulate and dynamic tonal range when strumming or fingerpicking. To reduce the weight of the body, Martin use Standard "X" Scalloped bracing beneath the body top. This not only relieves some of the weight, but allows the guitar to vibrate more openly. The OM-21 also feels incredibly comfortable to play whether sitting or standing.
The back and sides are built using East Indian rosewood which gives the OM-21 an even, versatile range of tones that are warm and rich thanks to the partnership formed between the rosewood and the sitka spruce top. A select hardwood neck is firmly joined to the body via a dovetail joint and has a modified low oval profile with Performing Artist Taper to promote easier, and somewhat faster playability. The neck is quite long with a scale length of 25.4 inches and has a 20-fret solid black ebony fingerboard which enhances the warmth in each note. Fourteen of the frets are open (unlike other acoustic guitars), so you can access the higher frets without feeling any discomfort. To help you along the frets are sophisticated Style 28 dot position inlays.
HARDWARE AND FINISH
To maintain tuning integrity and precision, Martin have included nickel open geared tuning machines with butterbean knobs on the headstock. The belly style bridge is constructed from solid black ebony and it connects the body and the strings together firmly so that you can play on for hours with confidence.
A style 28 grouping of soundhole rings and a tortoise pickguard decorate the body top while offering additional protection from scratches and dirt.
The Martin OM-21 is a no-nonsense acoustic guitar, and although it may be more compact in size this does not mean that it produces less of a sound whatsoever. The OM-21 produces a rich, full-bodied voice brimming with character and volume, thus perfect for playing for pleasure or recording in a studio. If you're a performer, the OM-21 is a splendid choice.
Martin have supplied a guitar case with the OM-21 so you can further protect it from dirt and damage whether you’re taking it out on the road or storing it in a safe place.
