The internal string system creates the “sizzle” effect heard when striking the top of the cajons front plate. Striking the cajon here causes the strings inside to vibrate and produces a snare like sound which backs up other instruments perfectly along with the well round bass drum like tone available when slapping the front plate closer to the centre.
