Product Details for Behringer UCG102 USB Guitar Link
The GUITAR LINK UCG102 interface is an amazing practice tool that lets you hook up your guitar to your computer in a flash, giving you the best of both worlds.

The UCG102 guitar-to-USB interface lets you jam and record using modeling amps and effects without the need for any other gear but your guitar. The compact interface links your electric guitar to a PC or Mac computer via a typical USB cable, allowing you to rock with sophisticated software such as the included Guitar Combos BEHRINGER Edition from Native Instruments, Kristal Audio Engine multi-track sequencer and Audacity audio editor. It also features a Headphone output for silent practicing.

Native Instruments Guitar Combos BEHRINGER Edition perfectly recreates 3 classic combos. The virtual tube combos have an absolutely authentic, dynamic and pure tone.

GUITAR COMBO I’s popular role model revolutionized British pop music. From soft to distorted, this combo has a uniquely inspiring sonic character.

GUITAR COMBO II is the epitome of the clean and crunchy blues sound. Over the course of several decades, this warm and unmistakable sound has made a valuable contribution to countless hits.

Based on the famous tube amps that spawned the guitar legends of the late ā€˜60s and early ā€˜70s, GUITAR COMBO III embodies the rock sound. Its distinctive and individual tone can be as warm as it can be hard.

Question

Have you got a solution?
I am looking to buy the Behringer UCG102 USB Guitar Link for my brother but he plays the Bass Guitar rather than a normal electroc guitar. Will he get the same kind of benifits or is this aimed more at electric guitar players?

Solutions:

He will certainly be able to input the sound into his computer and record the bass guitar. The guitar amp software that comes with the unit is designed for electric guitars so won't be effective on his bass - although it will work.

Question

Have you got a solution?
I want to record my guitar onto my computer (Audacity software) however just hooking the output from my Zoom G2 to the computer results in a lengthy delay between playing the note and hearing it or alternatively not hearing the output from the guitar making it impossible to record anything properly - will this device stop this delay? If not what would you recommend?

Solutions:

This delay that you're experiencing is commonly known as 'latency'. Assuming that you're using a PC rather than a Mac, to overcome this problem you need to be using an audio interface that has 'ASIO' drivers (these are a special type of driver which is designed to be used with music software) - which the Behringer UCG102 does. Unfortunately, the 'Audacity' software package doesn't support ASIO drivers! There is, however, a piece of software called 'Kristal Audio Engine' which comes free with the UCG102, supports ASIO drivers and will let you record up to 16 tracks of audio. This should solve your problem.
