The Novation Impulse 25 is an innovative professional 25 key controller keyboard, designed to automatically map to the software you are using for the fastest possible workflow. Compatible with all major plugins and DAWs this keyboard brings professional control to home studios and pro studios alike. The keyboard itself is designed for players as it is semi-weighted, velocity sensitive and features assignable aftertouch - so none of your natural performance is lost, giving much more subtlety to your recordings.
The 25 key model is best for engineers/producers who need a basic range for playing within a 3 octave range (with the possibility of ocatve transposition for even greater reach), this is ideal for playing in leads and chords seperately, and for basic two hand applications.
Software compatibility includes Ableton, Cubase, FL Studio, Garage Band, Logic, ProTools, Reason/Record, Sonar (PC only) and Studio One. With each of these DAWs you have full mixer control, transport control and plug-in instrument/effect control via knobs and fader on the Novation Impulse controller keyboard. When using lots of plugins and lots of channels, it can be easy to lose track of your controller assignments, which is why Novation have included Automap 4 software, which includes an on-screen display of the current assignements and helps you rapidly re-assign the controls as you see fit and the keyboard has a Learn button, where you click on the software element you want to control, and then wiggle the knob you want to control it and it becomes automatically assigned to the job.
Last but not least the back-lit drum pad section includes some seriously powerful features. Use it with Ableton Live to trigger Live Clips, using it as a sampler/drum machine. There is a built-in arpeggiator that lets you turn chords into arpeggios and the Arpeggiator Warping feature lets you control the rythm of the arpeggio live by switching beats in and out (perfect for drums), as well as speed, shape, syncopation and gate time control. There is also a Beat Roll mode, where you can trigger rolls with the drum pads and as they are pressure sensitive, you can even control the dynamics during a roll!
