The Fender '51 Pawn Shop Stratocaster is designed in the spirit of home guitar customisation, playfully emulating the unusual Fender Strats that were showing up in pawn shops during the 1960s and '70s. A Telecaster "U" shaped neck and Fender Enforcer humbucker push the '51 Pawn Shop Stratocaster into overdrive.
The '51 Fender Pawn Shop Strat is built on strong foundations with an alder Stratocaster body and a maple Telecaster neck. The Texas Special neck pickup gives a warm and rounded tone, while the Fender Enforcer humbucker bridge pickup gives all the power you need plus a top end bite that will lift your leads out of the mud and into the mix (would you expect anything less from something called the 'Enforcer'?). The single tone and volume knobs (Telecaster style) may seem simple, but if you push/pull the volume knob it will split the humbucker into a single-coil for increased tonal possibilities (and a more classic strat tone). Sustain is also not an issue as with the humbucker, hard-tail Stratocaster bridge and solid maple neck on-board, everything is set up to resonate well. Add to this a three-way selector switch and you can see that these customisations have not been made in vain.
Looks wise, this is a really unique guitar. The unusual pickguard shape, pickup configuration and Tele/Strat combo are surprisingly elegant and simple to look at. The bottom line is that the Fender '51 Pawn Shop Stratocaster provides everything need you for professional performance, with a bit of extra creative flair. The customisations are not whacky or weird, but different enough to look unique and sound distinctive. If originality is your bag, this is a perfect choice.
