The flagship model in their next generation USB 2.0 audio/MIDI interfaces, the Presonus AudioBox 1818VLS delivers exceptional audio quality. The aim with this beauty is to offer a professional quality product at a highly affordable price. From home studios to live gigs, schools to businesses, everyone can benefit from the phenomenal features on the AudioBox has to offer.
Made for analogue and digital
The AudioBox 1818VSL is a high-end product with both analogue and digital connectivity. Along the front panel there are 8 combination XLR/jack inputs, which feature high-impedance instrument inputs on inputs 1/2, and line inputs on the remaining 6 channels. High-quality Class A AMAX mic preamps are built into each channel, offering exceptional audio recording quality. Each channel has an individual gain control with individual clip LEDs. Monitoring your connections is very easy - blue means that everything is in sync and red indicates problems. The master LED ladder on the right-hand side indicates the main output levels. The balanced headphone output has an individual level control, allowing you to dial in your monitor level with ease.
Along the rear panel are 8 line outputs and two main outputs, as well as a host of digital outputs including: 8 channels ADAT optical input and output (44.1 or 48 kHz; or 4 channels at 88.2 or 96 kHz), BNC word-clock, S/PDIF, MIDI In/Out and of course a USB 2.0 port.
Professional-grade analogue to digital to analogue converters offer a very generous +114 dBu dynamic range, giving more than enough headroom to ensure clean and concise signal levels.
Included with the AudioBox is Presonus' Virtual Studio Live (VLS) - here's where things get interesting. This incredibly powerful piece of software gives you the same functionality as Presonus' Studio Live mixers - minus the buttons. The signal processing facilities within VSL are staggering, offering a huge level of control with near zero-latency. It works superbly with the StudioLive Fat Channel compressor, limiter, expander, high-pass filter and semi-parametric EQ on each input, allowing you to easily and effectively add a wide range of pro-quality FX/processing to each input.
Streamlined DAW included
Supplied with the AudioBox 1818VSL Studio One Artist 2 digital audio workstation (DAW) provides an elegant single-window work environment. Studio One Artist 2 has the same functionality of other popular DAWs, but the key here is enabling a streamlined workflow. Laying down tracks, editing and mixing, are all very simple tasks thanks to intuitive layout, and you'll be flying in no time. As with the hardware, the Studio One Artist 2 DAW is compatible with both Mac and Windows, allowing it to fit perfectly into your existing setup and workflow.
The Presonus AudioBox 1818VSL USB 2.0 Audio Interface and Recording System offers an incredibly powerful piece of kit at an astonishingly low price. The scale of signal processing power is matched by extraordinary audio quality, thanks in part to the superb AMAX mic preamps, but also the sophisticated Virtual StudioLive software interface that pushes the limits of what the AudioBox can achieve. Quite simply, this is an awesome piece of kit that is certain to become the interface of choice amongst many pros across the industry.
