The Tascam 2488neo Digital Recorder lets you demo songs, fully produce and record finished multi-track projects, apply mastering effects and burn to CD - helping you quickly progress through every step of the music production process. Whether you are a solo artist or a band looking to start recording your songs, this self-contained unit lets you do everything you need, even import/export audio from a computer to the device via USB or CD.
There are 8 simultaneous inputs, (including 4 jack/XLR with phantom power) so you could even record a close mic'd drum kit in a single pass, or a live gig. There are 24 channels in total, as well as 250 Virtual tracks. Each of the channels has three aux sends and there is a 3-band EQ on 24 channels. The stereo bus features a powerful EQ with high and low sweepable shelving bands and full parametric mid band. Audio is recorded in 16-bit or 24-bit, 44.1kHz linear PCM wave/SMF for full CD quality or better.
There are loads of built-in effects including a full range of distortion and amp effects for direct recording electric guitars and there are classic reverbs and delays too. Up to 8 channels can utilise the assignable compressors, and on top of this there are serious mastering effects such as multi-band compression. There is also a dedicated stereo output compressor, so you can give your tracks a really full sound and the glossy perfection of a finished record.
Nineteen 45mm faders ensure you have all the control you need to mix your tracks, and you can monitor levels and other parameters on the large LCD display. To import and export there is both USB 2.0 and a CD-RW drive that can read and burn both audio CDs and data CDs.
