The Redwood T89 Ukulele is small but it has a big character and would make a great choice if you’re considering treating yourself to a concert ukulele which has superior features and a well projected tone.
The Redwood T89 body is entirely made from acacia wood with a maple body binding edge and abalone purfling, a technique that has protection in mind but also gives this Uke a fantastic presence. It further supports the top of the ukulele from buckling or warping. The T89 has a sumptuous Satin Natural finish which has a darker colour about it but the acacia and satin finish helps the ukulele to resonate openly. The acacia wood produces a sweet, full-bodied timbre with a crisp, fresh resonance, which sounds beautiful with every note. Acacia tends to offer a similar sound to Koa wood as it originates from the same tonewood family.
The neck is fitted firmly to the body of the T89 and joining it is a 19-fret fingerboard with abalone dot position inlays to guide you. The neck feels comfortable to play and the frets are a reasonable size which may appeal to players with larger hands. The size of the frets on the neck also make it easy to transition from one note to the next, be it high or low. The neck also gives you a reassuring feel, as do the tuning machines.
On the classical style headstock there are four gold geared machine tuning heads which uphold tuning precision and integrity on each string.
It’s fair to say that over the last few years, ukuleles have had a surge in popularity, and the Redwood T89 is a great choice if you’re looking for a concert style ukulele to improve your playing skills. With its clean, bright sound and plush satin natural finish, the T89 is sure to please.
