The Redwood UB20E Bass Ukulele is the ultimate in portable bass playing. With it's light frame, smooth and thin neck, the UB20E would make a great addition to any folk band ensemble and offers the addition of natural bass without lugging around a much larger instrument.
The Redwood UB20E body is entirely made from acacia wood with white body binding, a technique that gives this Uke a fantastic presence. It further supports the top of the ukulele from buckling or warping over time. The UB20E has a sumptuous Satin Natural finish which has a light top and darker back and sides but the acacia and satin finish helps the ukulele to resonate naturally.
The acacia wood produces a sweet, full-bodied timbre with a crisp, fresh resonance, which sounds beautiful and produces a smooth, natural bass. Acacia tends to offer a similar sound to Koa wood as it originates from the same tonewood family.
The neck is fitted firmly to the body of the UB20E and joining it is a 16-fret fingerboard with abalone dot position inlays to guide you through your basslines. The neck feels comfortable to play and the frets are a reasonable size. The size of the frets on the neck also make it easy to transition from one note to the next, be it high or low. The headstock and tuning machines are of a modern bass style and not only deliver secure tuning, but also a great visage.
It’s fair to say that over the last few years, ukuleles have had a surge in popularity, and the Redwood UB20E now opens this up to bass players that want a portable instrument to add some bottom ed to their ensemble.
