The Rode NTK is Rode's best value tube mic, built with class-A valve/tube technology. This microphone is ultra-warm and natural sounding, built with analogue tube techonolgy. It is an extremely high-quality microphone, and its only limitation is that it has a fixed cardioid pickup pattern, where Rode's more expensive model (the K2) offers multiple polar patterns.
The Rode NTK has a 1" cardioid HF-2 gold-sputtered diaphragm mounted on an internal shock mount. The HF-2 capsule is one of the top capsules that Rode makes, and when combined with the pro valve circuitry and the hand selected 6922 twin-triode valve in the NTK and you have a amazingly warm modern/vintage studio microphone with a great dynamic range, great for male and female vocals, and acoustic instruments. The NTK has its own power supply to make sure the signal is not affected by any unstable power to give you a quiet performance (158dB SPL (@ 1kHz, 5% THD into 1KO load) so your recordings come out clearly, with only the sounds you want to hear. The body of the NTK is made from cast metal and a heat-treated, welded mesh head in a satin nickel finish. The NTK includes a moulded plastic briefcase for portability and storage, NTK-XLR lead (microphone to power supply) mic mount, power cable and NTK power pack.
