SuperNATURAL Piano Engine
Having painstakingly analised the charactreristics of concert grands Roland have put all their knowledge into reproducing the tonal variations created by the velocity of keystrokes and putting this into their astounding SuperNATURAL Piano engine. This engine allows the Roland F120 to be truly expressive and produce a sound that thins the line between digital and acoustic by enhancing velocity response, note decay and key-range behavior.
Ivory Feel-G Keyboard
Pairing up the SuperNATURAL Piano engine with an Ivory Feel-G keyboard give the Roland F120 the perfect combination of sound and feel that rivals that of even high-end pianos. The Ivory Feel-G keyboard features Progressive Hammer Action with Escapement which gives it the additional functions, texture and apperance of an acoustic piano.
Slim Cabinet Design
At only 30cm deep, as well as being stylish, the Roland F120 is compact enough to fit in most rooms of the house. The lid acts both as an enclosure to protect your keyboard when the pianos not in use and as a music rest when your playing.
Functions and Learning
A great aid to learning is the Twin-Piano function. This divides the keyboard into a left and right area, allowing the student to work on one area of the keyboard whilst the teacher demonstrates on the other. The pedals replicate this function so to act as damper pedals for each side of the keyboard. The Roland F120 also has an onboard metronome to keep your timing and a recorder to allow you to listen back to your playing for an objective view on how you can improve.
The Perks of Being Digital
While the Roland F120 has all the things that makes it sound as close to an acoustic as possible the beauty of the piano lies in the percs of it being digital. You can play through the built in speakers or through the headphones should you be practicing into the night. You can plug an external audio device, such as an mp3 or cd player to play along to a favourite track. Being digital it also never needs turning!
For those who are acutely aware of their carbon footprint or just want to save money on their electricity bill the Roland F120 comes with an ‘Auto Off’ feature. This will power the piano down after a certain time.

The Roland F120 has the most realistic piano feeling to it, especially when you think about its price. The keys just feel great and the piano sound is quite impressive. I've had it for a few months now (in black though) and I'm quite happy with it. If you're a loud player, you might need to go for a pair of good headphones because the built-in speaker sound loses just a bit of its quality at higher volumes (which is pretty much the case with most digitals isn't it?). I'm not a fan of the digital sounds that come with it, but then again I mainly a piano player so this one does it for me big time.
BTW, if your place is not exactly piano friendly (tiny corridors, stairs etc) the F120 is really thin and quite lightweight compared to your typical digital piano. You should have no problem fitting it in any apartment, house etc.
Overall, it’s a good deal.
