Inspired by the Roland V-Piano Grand this piano features the SuperNATURAL Piano Sound Engine with Acoustic Projection technology to give your music the natural multi-dimensional sound of an acoustic. Armed with this technology, along with the PHA III Ivory Feel Keyboard with Escapement and Progressive Damper Action Pedal the Roland HP505 Digital Piano gives you the complete acoustic piano experience with all the benefits of a digital.
Acoustic Projection Sound System
By their string and body resonance acoustic pianos create a unique sound space that, while complex creates a harmonious sound. To recreate this phenomenon the Roland HP-505RW Digital Piano utilises Acoustic Projection technology, which combines the SuperNATURAL Piano engine with a multi-dimensional sound system. With each speaker positioned just so and blended together the Roland HP505 is able to reproduce the sound field of an actual acoustic.
SuperNATURAL Piano Engine
With seamless velocity response and natural note decay the Roland’s SuperNATURAL Piano technology doesn’t just recreate the sound of an acoustic but also gives you the capability to be truly expressive. To sound as natural as an acoustic the Roland HP-505 Digital Piano gives you responsive touch and an organic sounding decay that not only lowers volume but changes in colour to soften the tone.
Onboard Fortepiano & Harpsichord Sounds
Bolstering the Roland HP505 Digital Pianos selection of onboard grand-piano sounds are four fortepiano and two harpsichord sounds. These give you the capability to recreate era-correct sounds of classic masterpieces from the likes of Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin. With built-in historic temperaments these early piano sounds are also perfect for using alongside other classical instruments.
PHA III Ivory Feel Keyboard with Escapement
With Roland’s flagship PHA III Ivory Feel Keyboard with Escapement the Roland HP-505 RW Digital Piano is sensitive enough to feel everything from the slightest touch to more forceful playing and fast key-repetition, responding effectively to keep up with your style of play. The keys themselves feature moisture-absorbing properties to give the texture and sensation of ivory and ebony.
Progressive Damper Action Pedals
Reacting as acoustic pianos pedals the Progressive Damper Action Pedals go from giving light resistance to heavier resistance, once the stroke starts to take effect. This feedback is essential for pianists to know when the pedals are taking effect, and enabling the Roland HP505 Digital Piano to be utilised for half-pedalling techniques.
Built-in Recorder & USB Connectivity
A brilliant feature for both students and professional pianists the Roland HP 503 Digital Piano has a built-in recorder to record your performance and play it back for evaluation. You can also plug in an external audio player to play along to tracks, which the HP505 will transpose it real time and your whole performance can be saved to a USB memory device.

A great piano that comes at a cost.
Posted on 02/08/2012 by Scott
It's a great piano, but it comes at a cost. I bought the piano for all the gadgets it had to offer, but in the time I have had it, I have never used any of them. If you were looking for a piano without all the added fuss, I would spend a little less on one of the lower models. After all, when I played most of them, there wasn't a great deal of difference.
