The accumulation of 25 years of stage piano manufacturing, the Roland RD800 Digital Stage Piano is Roland’s best yet; providing everything you’ve been wishing for. The ultimate professional instrument, it has everything; great feel, accurate sounds, low-weight construction and a sleek, attractive design.
The RD-800 has also been received into the industry with much acclaim having scored a full 10 out of 10 on a review by MusicTech magazine in April 2015.
The Roland RD 800 Digital Stage Piano utilises Roland’s highly acclaimed SuperNATURAL Piano sound engine for its unequalled ability to replicate the velocity response, note decay, and key-range behaviour of an acoustic piano. The RD-800 comes equipped with newly enhanced SuperNATURAL-based electric pianos and clavs that offer a more authentically vintage sound and feel than previous incarnations.
Alongside these are a whole host of refined acoustic pianos, grand and upright, which are perfect for live performance and include a new Concert Grand tone derived from the V-Piano Grand, alongside vintage electric pianos, organs, synth sounds and over 1100 additional sounds.
The Roland RD-800 Digital Stage Piano introduces you to Roland’s latest achievement in keyboard action technology, the top-of-the-line PHA-4 Concert Keyboard with Escapement. This implements their latest advancements in touch-detection and weighted hammer-action technology, to bring a better feeling to your playing. The keyboard still features their Ebony/Ivory Feel, which gives the keys a comfortable and realistic feel that absorbs moisture and prevents slippage.
Although packed with options, the Roland RD-800 Digital Stage Piano has an intuitive interface with essential functions always close to hand and dedicated controls, making it easy to find your way around. Furthermore the piano’s colour LCD and LED indicators on panel knobs go further to make life easy when playing in dimly lit environments.
The Roland RD-800 Digital Stage Piano’s dedicated controls include a Live Set selection, part levels, Modulation FX, Tremolo, Amp Simulator, and more. A notable new addition to this model is the Tone Color knob, which offers real time, complex tonal manipulation from just one knob.
You can extend your control over the Roland RD-800 Digital Stage Piano with its full complement of four external pedal connections (Damper, FC1, FC2, and EXT). The RD-800 also has a USB port allowing you to record your performances and backup the user memory to a USB flash memory drive. You can also use this feature (or the 1/8-inch stereo input) for song playback. 1/4-inch and balanced XLR stereo output jacks give you all you need to hook up to an external speaker system (and a USB for computer connection) or you can use the headphones socket for silent practice. You also have IN, OUT1, and THRU/OUT2 for master MIDI control.
You’d think that all of this would come at the cost of weight but you you’d be wrong. The Roland RD-800 Digital Stage Piano weights-in at just under 22kg, making it the lightest RD ever.

The casing is well solid and I'm sure will take a right knocking while I'm out on the road.
