The Squier Affinity Stratocaster is one of the most popular electric guitars ever made. Using sister brand, Squier, Fender distilled the key design elements of its iconic Stratocaster, and built a guitar that shared its DNA, but at a much more affordable price - allowing more people to get their hands on a Strat.
The distinctive Stratocaster body design is present, featuring the curvy, double-cutaway shape the Leo Fender spent considerable time perfecting. Six decades after it was launched it is still one of the most comfortable guitars to play, hugging the body beautifully. The solid alder tonewood produces a fantastic, linear response across the frequency spectrum with subtle emphasis in the upper mid to high range. This produce a highly articulate and responsive snappiness that is perfect whether you're playing cleanly or with heavy distortion.
The neck is bolt-on maple design, again, like its Fender predecessors. This has advantages over glued-in, set-neck designs, not least of which that it makes the guitar significantly tougher. The neck is shaped to a ‘C’ profile, comfortably sitting in the hand naturally. A maple fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets - adorned with dot position inlays - completes the neck.
Three single coil pickups are fitted to the Affinity Strat, wired with a 5-way selector switch, controlled by two tone knobs and a master volume knobs. The pickups and controls fitted to the Stratocaster are a major contributing factor to the design’s popularity. Between them a staggering range of tones can be achieved, making it one of the most versatile guitars that money can buy. Whether you're looking to play deftly picked licks, hard-strummed chords, intricate lead lines, every style of music from jazz to metal has been played through one of these beauties. It doesn't matter what style you play or where your music takes you, the Squier Affinity Strat has the versatility to deliver exceptional tones every time.
Tried and tested hardware
A 6-saddle vintage style Tremolo bridge is fitted, which provides the means to perform pitch bend techniques and injecting subtle vibrato into every performance. Six standard die-cast tuners are fitted at the headstock, upholding tuning integrity with the greatest of ease. A white scratchplate provides a nice, visual contrast to the classic, 3-tone sunburst finish, as well as performing the task of protecting the underside of the strings.
The Squier Affinity Stratocaster is one of the most popular guitars available for very good reason. It is derived from a guitar design that is still available largely unchanged, some sixty years after it was launched. It is also one of the most versatile beginner guitars that you can buy. Ultimately, though, it’s a guitar that sounds great and plays just as well, with the same good looks as its prestigious ancestors. Follow in the footsteps of so many greats before you and grab one today.
