Giving affordable entry into the Stratocaster legacy, the Squier Bullet Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar has crafted by Fender’s sister company to provide a level of playability and tonal versatility that makes it hard to put down. This model differs from usual Strat fare slightly though, as the usual three single-coil configuration has been swapped out and a humbucker and two single coils take their place, for tones beyond what you would normally find.
Shaped to the very silhouette seen in the Fender instruments it is twinned with, the Squier Bullet Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar incorporates the iconic Strat body. For years the Strat has been known as one of the most comfortable guitars to play, and this is in part thanks to the instrument’s shape, with its sensual contours and double-cutaway, which gives you unrestrictive access to even the highest frets.
Also akin to the more expensive Fender instruments, the Squier Bullet Stratocaster HSS is constructed from alder, which imparts part of the guitar’s signature tone as well as its balanced weighting. New to the Bullet, the body is coated in a Black Metallic polyurethane finish, which is joined by a Platinum Sparkle pickguard and black hardware throughout.
Comfort with a Capital C
Giving a solid feel and ensuring structural strength, the instrument’s maple neck is bolted into the body and kept secure with a 4-bolt neck plate. The neck is carved to the famously comfortable and highly playable C-Shape profile, which itself is another classic Fender attribute.
Keeping tuning steadfast is a set of six die-cast tuners, found at the Strat-shaped headstock of the Squier Bullet Stratocaster HSS. At the other end of the neck is another icon; a 6-saddle, vintage-style synchronized tremolo with its vintage-style arm. Typically known as a whammy bar, this gives you quick access to pitch-bending effects that have been heard throughout rock history.
Strat Sound Plus
The Strat is known for holding a set of three single-coil pickups, but breaking from tradition the Squier Bullet Stratocaster HSS replaces the bridge’s single-coil for a Standard Humbucking pickup, to give player’s access to fatter, higher-output tones. Of course, the other two Standard Single-Coil Strat pickups remain in place, so the classic Strat sound is still very much available to you.
The interface for pickup selection and tone/volume tweaking is an uncomplicated set-up, with a 5-way pickup switch giving you easy pickup selection options, and a master volume and two tone controls allowing for fine alterations.
