The town of Reading is a place with strong ties to the world of music, despite its modest size. The town has been host to the huge Reading music festival for decades, and until recently, the WOMAD festival. As a result of these long-standing, major musical events, music is ‘in the blood’ of the people of Reading, and the very healthy local music scene is a testament to that. As befits the host to one of the UK’s biggest music festivals, our Reading store is the biggest store Dawsons currently has. The aircraft-hanger sized space is home to just about everything a musician may need, conveniently with ample free parking available at the rear.

The massive guitar wall to the right of the store entrance has been known to make mouths fall open. This impressive, treasure trove of guitars is furnished with a huge selection of electric guitars and basses from Gibson and Epiphone, with everything from beginners’ instruments through to Custom Shop collectors’ items. These share the space with an equally impressive range from Fender, Ibanez, Gretsch, Jackson, PRS and more. Acoustic guitars are also well represented, with a selection of models from Taylor, Gibson, Takamine, Yamaha, Farida, Epiphone and more.

For those whose approach music is a bit more electronic, or for those looking to make their own recordings, a healthy selection of hi-tech and recording equipment is stocked. A wide range of audio interfaces from Focusrite, Roland, Alesis, Apogee and more are stocked, with controller keyboards from Novation, Alesis, Roland and many more besides. These share the space with a range of microphones from SE, Rode, Shure and Samson, with studio monitors by brands such as KRK and Yamaha, plus just about anything else you may need to record.

For keyboard and piano players, we have a wide selection of instruments available. Acoustic pianos are represented with a selection of uprights and grand pianos from Yamaha, Perzina and Winchester, alongside Roland, Yamaha (including the Clavinova range), and Kawai digital pianos, plus the ever-popular PSR range of keyboards. To cater for those who like to programme and tweak their own sounds, Dawsons Reading has a wide selection of Synthesisers from brands such as Roland, Korg, Nord and more.

At the centre of the store is a huge Roland Planet. This is home to nearly every Roland musical product currently available, on display and available to demo. In addition, a fully trained member of Roland staff is on hand to answer any questions relating to these products.

Dawsons Reading also stocks a selection of PA products, along with orchestral instruments and a huge selection of accessories. The Reading store is home to one of our music schools. Here, students can take lessons to learn how to play the guitar, keyboards or drums.

The store is a short walk from Reading train station, but for those driving to the store, it has a large, free car park located at the rear of the store.
