Part of the Koa Series and twinned with the K24ce, the Taylor K26ce Electro Acoustic Guitar offers the same gorgeous aesthetics and woods, but with a larger voice afforded to it from its Grand Symphony body shape. Compared with the Grand Auditorium shape, the Grand Symphony utilised in the construction of the Taylor K26ce Electro Acoustic Guitar has a slightly wider waist and bigger lower bout. Capable of holding it’s own with strummers and pickers alike, the extra volume gives you a fuller sound with enhanced projection and sustain. Despite the increase in volume, it still manages to retain its responsiveness and balance, with a piano-like bass, meaty midrange, and shimmering highs.
The bracing used in the making of the Taylor K26ce Electro Acoustic Guitar is also something special. The CV with Relief Rout bracing actually loosens the edges of the top, though still ensuring the structural integrity of the guitar, which lets the top remain more flexible, and therefore provide a fuller, fatter sound.
A striking wood-type, koa has been used through out the body of the Taylor K26ce Electro Acoustic Guitar. Although beautiful to look at there is a lot more to koa than aesthetics, with it’s much sought after tone offering the midrange of mahogany and the top end of maple. It’s tonally characteristics improve over time as well. Starting out with a bright, focussed tone, as you play the wood in the midrange widens and the tone becomes richer, sweeter, and more resonant.
The tasteful wood choices continue throughout the Taylor K26ce Electro Acoustic Guitar, with a mahogany neck, topped by an ebony fingerboard, which is adorned with another striking feature, the Island Vine inlay. Both body and neck are accented with an Indian rosewood binding.
In an acoustic setting the Taylor K26ce Electro Acoustic Guitar has the tone and volume to blow everything else away, but for those times when you need more, you can hook up to an amplifier or PA system, thanks to Taylor’s own pickup system, the Taylor Expression System 2.
Now in its second iteration, the Taylor Expression System 2 outfitted in the Taylor K26ce Guitar has been designed to offer everything the guitar has to give when unplugged, without losing anything. This it does with a trio of strategically placed sensors installed through the bridge. It also offers three discreet control knobs – volume, treble, bass – at the upper bout of the guitar.
