TC Electronic BG250 Bass Combo Amplifier

The TC Electronic BG250 Bass Combo Amplifier has the capability to have just about any effect you could want onboard, as for the first time in an amp you can replace the onboard effects as many times as you want, with TC Electronic’s TonePrint technology built-in.

TonePrint Functionality

Along with the classic effects the TC Electronic BG 250 Bass Combo Amplifier’s TonePrint technology allows you to choose from a massive, and still expanding, range of artist-created effects to get their signature tone. Some of the names on the signature effects roster are, quite frankly, scary with Nathan East, Charles Cave, Michael Shuman, Gail Ann Dorsey, Mark King, and Roscoe Beck all appearing on the list. What’s more they’re free of charge!

You’re probably thinking about now that its all well and good but getting new effects onto the TC Electronic BG250 Bass Amp is going to be a massive hassle. Wrong. With TC Electronic’s TonePrint app for iPhone and Android all you need to do is find the effect you want via the app and then beam it onto the strings of your guitar.

Though sounding a little space age each TonePrint effect has been converted into a unique magnetic pulse, which comes from your phone’s speaker and pulses through your bass’s pickup to then be recognised by the amp. You can, of course, still connect the TC Electronic BG250 Bass Amplifier to your computer via USB to download your effects. Whichever way you choose to add effects to the amp TC Electronic get you started with the beautiful-sounding TC Bass Chorus effect pre-loaded on the BG250 Bass Amp.

The Amp

Despite holding all this power and belting out 250 watts of power from a 15” speaker, the Class D TC Electronic BG250 Bass Combo Amplifier is astoundingly lightweight, at just 34.8 lbs (15.8 kg)!

Giving you a warmer tube amp sound is the TC Electronic BG250 Combo Amp’s TubeDrive knob allowing you to dial in as much or as little tube-sound as you want. This emulates the sound of both a tube preamp and power amp! The amp also has tone controls to craft the exact tone you’re after, from crisp to slap, crunchy to rock. Of course best of all is the TonePrint knob allowing you to control the embedded parameters of TonePrints.

The TC Electronic BG250 also has a built-in tuner and a mute button so you can tune up without annoying the crowd.

The TC Electronic BG250 Bass Combo Amp isn’t short of connections with the inclusion of an auxiliary input giving you the option of plugging in an external audio device (such as an MP3 player) to practice along to. A headphone output also gives you the ability to play silently.
