The TC Electronic BH500 combines perfectly with TC’s BC410/BC212/BC210 cabinet range, to create the perfect rig to meet your performance requirements. Whether you’re playing small bar gigs, indoor rock clubs, outdoor stadium concerts, the highly versatile BH500 can do it all! Not only that, but the wizards at TC have kitted the amp head out with a wide range of tone-shaping tools such as: TubeTone, SpectraComp and bass tuned tone controls, in order to give you the ultimate power over your live sound. Also, the 3 user memories let you change tone at any given time while the integrated tuner allows you to tune up silently before you rock.
Tone Shaping Tools
The SpectraComp gives you multi-band compression across each string, ensuring that your sound remains tight and precise across the frequency spectrum. So whether you’re looking for some down-tuned rumble, tight and responsive mids with a hefty snap, or ultra-sharp high-end with a little sizzle, the SpectraComp will ensure each and every note rings out just as you want it to.
The TC Electronic BH500 Head's TubeTone effect was originally introduced on the RH450, combining the characteristics of a full preamp and power amp, to deliver a faithful and honest rendition of a tube amplifier. The result is a powerful, warm and smooth response that other amp heads can only dream of.
TC Electronic BH500 can store three of your favourite tones. For instance, if you need a nice chunk of overdrive on specific passages, presets are king. Not to mention, with great sounding bass tones and seamless switching between them, you will be able to focus on the important thing - rocking out!
Built-in bass tuner
Every once in a while, you need to tune up, and whenever that happens, just let the TC Electronic BH500's built-in tuner guide you. It's simple, it lets you tune silently, and it gets you back to rocking in no time.
Tone Controls and TweeterTone
EQ is always a bass essential, so the TC Electronic BH500 Amp Head has been equipped with a great sounding, 4-band EQ which is perfect for shaping your fundamental tone. Further, with two contour filters you can scoop the mid-frequencies, which creates an amazing low-end punch on demand.
The tweeter control is usually located on the rear side of the cabinet, but on the TC Electronic BH500 you can simply adjust the tweeter level right from the front panel. Further, the sound also gets modified slightly with filters giving you a much more intelligent control over the high frequencies that are critical for giving your sound that razor-sharp edge.
Just plug and play! And for rehearsing or jamming along you can connect your portable music player to the AUX input. If you don’t want to disturb the neighbours, plug in your headphones and the drivers will be muted automatically. Finally, you can send a signal to a sound-engineer via the BH500 Bass Head's balanced XLR output – or to an audio interface when you are recording the rock hits of tomorrow!
Combine your TC Electronic BH500 Bass Amp Head with Cabinets from the BC Range to get the sound you want:
- 2 x BC210 Stacked: Plenty of low-end and power with the precise, fast and defined tone usually associated with 10" speakers
- 2 x BC410: The Classic 8x10 from a combination of 2x410. Snappy and crisp with plenty of muscle
- 1 x BC212 + 2 x BC210: For a combination of precision, full body and even more low-end from the 2x12" cabinet
- 1 x BC410 + 1 x BC212: Cool combination for full low end, precision and body

BH500 - 9/10
Posted on 26/09/2014 by DMOF
I have recently got rid of my Orange bass terror and gone for one of these... it may not have the loudness of the Orange amp but it definitely trumps it on tone and features.
I am driving the bh500 through a Ampeg SVT 115 and it sounds immense and cuts through the mix with no trouble at all thanks to the 4 band eq (the low mid is very useful) and the tubetone for a bit of grit. The tube tone and compression tools are more than usable, and so much so I have stopped using my dedicated compression pedal (Aphex punch factory.)
I can definitely recommend this head and for the price it is a steal, I give it 9/10 because I think the knobs on the unit feel a bit plastic-y and cheap but other than that no gripes at all.
