Hailing from the new AV range of Vox amplifiers is the AV15 Analog Valve guitar amp. As most guitarists will know, analog circuitry in an amp, especially a tube amp, delivers a tone that is quite simply one of a kind. It also comes as a surprise when you can find a top quality tube amp that is both versatile and affordable, however the AV15 is innovative and definitely versatile in the timbre it provides. Vox have employed certain design techniques using specific parts to construct the AV15 which is a superb, compact 15 watt analog amp.
NEW WORLD OF SOUND
The Vox AV15 provides a whole new dimension of tube sounds in a neat, compact format and at an economical price. The AV15 offers 15 watts of power and is driven by 1x 12AX7 dual triode tube which is equally split in half between preamp and power amp sections.
Central to the AV15 are eight analog preamp circuits which emulate the sound of eight tube amps, so whether you want a nice, clean tone or to crank up the gain (or anything in between), this can be done accurately and efficiently. Also, because the speaker is mounted to the front of the amplifier, this enables you to produce spacious, crystal clear sounds.
CONTROLS AND EFFECTS
The AV15 is equipped with four slide switches which allow you to adjust the amp’s vacuum tube circuit response, two are for the preamp tubes, while the final two are for the power tubes. For the preamp tubes there is a Bright switch to beef up the high frequencies, and a Fat switch to do the same but for the low end tones. The power tubes can be modified using the Bias switch to alternate between either a clear sound or a heavily distorted output, while the Reactor switch allows you to adjust the amount of feedback. All four switches give you a wide range of tones to play with as you wish.
Vox have built the AV15 complete with an internal speaker baffle which plays a large part in establishing articulate, transparent sound projection. The compact cabinet and bass-reflex structure combined with this integrated baffle completely reduces any unwanted noise caused by vibrations within the amp, thus restoring a tonal balance as a result.
The AV15 includes built-in effects such as Modulation, Delay and Reverb so you can easily reshape your sound at the touch of a button. There is also a Power level control which allows you to adjust the overall volume of your guitar without compromising on the tone.
PLUG IN AND PLAY
The Vox AV15 has a standard input jack however also gives you the option to plug in an external audio device via the AUX in jack. However, if you want to silently practice, or take a closer listen to yourself as you play, then there is a convenient Headphones in jack with a cabinet simulator that offers you huge sound presence.
The Vox AV15 Analog Valve Guitar Amplifier is wonderfully compact yet incredibly innovative, offering a huge range of new tube sounds at your fingertips, and thankfully you won’t have to break the bank to get hold of this high quality amp either.
