Comprised of the VX II and VX I, the Vox VX amplifier range combines immersive sound, versatile amp sounds and effects, lightweight and compact design, robustness, and affordability; providing a winning mix of just about everything you could want in a compact combo amp.
With Great Power Comes a Small Box
In terms of power and speaker size, the Vox VX II Guitar Combo Amplifier is the larger of the two amps that currently make up the range. The amp outputs an impressive 30-watt RMS and is partnered with an 8-inch speaker. As with the VX I, this amp belies its size as, due to its construction and internal components, it sounds a lot larger than its specifications and dimensions would suggest.
Get this Monster to the VET!
The Vox VX II Guitar Amplifier separates itself from others in the combo amp market by its utilisation of Vox’s new VET (Virtual Element Technology) circuit. Having gone to painstaking effort to analyse a massive range of classic amplifiers from both Britain and American, and accurately recreating the best, with this technology on-board, the amp is able to offer Vox’s most authentic amp models to date.
11 Amp Models & 8 Classic Effects
With sounds similar to some of the most coveted amps ever created, the 11 amp models available with the Vox VX II will have you covered for most genres. Models with high-gain, crunch, and clean sounds give a good range, with highlights including British and American amps from the 1950s/’60s, and of course, a classic AC30 model.
Available amps include: Deluxe CL, Tweed 4x10, Boutique CL, Boutique OD, Vox AC30, Vox AC30TB, Brit 1959, Brit 800, Brit VM, SL-OD, Double Rec.
Giving you everything from one control panel, the VX II also offers a selection of eight classic effects, encompassing modulation, delay, and reverb types, to use in combination with the amp models. The effects are: chorus, flanger, phase, tremolo, analog delay, tape echo, spring reverb, hall reverb.
When you find the perfect set-up of amp and effects, you also have two user preset slots to save them to and recall them from, in addition to the 11 presets that come pre-installed. The two user slots can also be accessed by a two-button footswitch (available separately). Alternatively, if you hook up a Vox VFS5 Footswitch (also available separately), the available user preset number increases to eight.
Tube Sound with the Versatility of a Modelling Amp
Utilising technology inherited from the Valvetronix Series and incorporating Vox’s new FET-based analog circuitry, the Vox VX II’s power amp is capable of reproducing characteristics usually reserved for tube amps, with the responsiveness, dynamic overdrive, and even the distinctive sag they are known for.
All Things Considered
With the VX II, Vox has paid as much attention to the cabinetry and speaker of the amplifier as it has to the interior, so that both parts of the design work in unison to create a beautiful whole. With this at the forefront of their thinking, a bass reflex design and a sealed, one-piece speaker enclosure have been incorporated to give both excellent sound and resonance, but also to keep the weight of the amp low.
USB Connectivity and JamVOX III
Unlike the VX I, the VX II comes with USB connectivity and a JamVOX III download card, to claim your free copy of the modelling software for your PC or Mac. Additionally ASIO support is provided, allowing interfacing with DAWs or guitar amp simulators. Also available via download, is Tone Room; an editing/storage software, which allows you to edit and store all you favourite sounds.
