After having been inundated with requests from effects pedal enthusiasts, Wampler created the Black 65. Many people had wondered whether Wampler would design a pedal that could emulate the awesome overdrive tones of a Fender Blackface amp just like those that were widely admired in the 60s, and the Black 65 pedal does the perfect job.
When the Fender Black panel amps were cranked up, they deliver a certain tone, one which is irrefutably recognisable. Whether it reminds you of the Twin Reverb, the Super Reverb or perhaps the Deluxe Reverb, the Black 65 pedal hits the same sweet spot as an original 1960s Fender Blackface amp.
The Wampler Black 65 is fitted with easy-to-use controls and a three-band EQ, just like a real amplifier. Treble, Mids and Bass features in the EQ to enable you to shape your overdrive. Treble, as you would expect, fine tunes the high-end tones, while Bass lets you dial in the low frequencies. However the Mids dial is significant as it is necessary in helping you recreate a specific classic amp tone by adjusting the mid-range frequencies.
Volume and Gain knobs help control the output level as well as the amount of "crunch" made audible in your tone. Additionally, there is a Gain Boost toggle switch which is a reliable little control which allows you to choose between a lower or higher gain.
The Black 65 Overdrive pedal can be powered either by a 9V battery or alternately by a 9V DC power supply. It has a robust yet compact chassis which is powder coated to give it an enduring build. It is a completely true bypass pedal which has been handmade in the USA using original circuitry.
The Wampler Black 65 can be easily stacked with other pedals for wider tone possibilities, and its small size makes it ideal for any pedalboard.
