For a digital delay pedal, the Faux Tape Echo Delay by Wampler provides you with authentic, vintage-style tape echo with all the warmth of an analog pedal. Wampler have applied a hybrid design technique in the build of the Faux Tape Echo which is what provides such realistic tape echo tones. Unlike the first Faux Tape Echo pedal, Wampler have added a Tap Tempo feature which had been widely requested after the first version was released, giving you much better control over your delay.
A truly redeeming feature of this digital delay pedal is that it does not alter the guitar's actual tone whatsoever, and this is partly down to being built around the leading PT2339 delay chips, thus the only digital part of the signal is the "delay line". This is what ensures a real analog delivery, just like the old tape echo pedals with added convenience.
The Faux Tape Echo features six dials for you to take control of the delay sound.
Level controls how much delay signal is mixed in with the original signal, thus giving you overall control over the delay levels, and most importantly, without transforming your guitar's original tone. Below Level is a Repeats knob which is what controls how many repeats come after the original signal, and you can even achieve full oscillation. The Delay knob simply controls the delay time, and the Faux Tape Echo can reach up to 800ms of delay. Perhaps the most interesting dial on the pedal though is the Shade control, which only alters the delay signal. Turn it counter-clockwise for a darker, more analog echo, or alternately go completely clockwise for a brighter and lighter echo.
This pedal features an improved, updated Faux Tape Reel with an engaged / bypassed toggle switch combined with controls for Movement and Sway. Movement controls the amount of modulation on the delay signal, while Sway controls the modulation speed.
Whether you want country-style slapbacks or long, atmospheric delays, the Wampler Faux Tape Echo Delay Pedal covers all your bases.
