Wampler have developed one of the most quintessential high-gain pedals in the form of the Triple Wreck distortion pedal. There are a few Wampler pedals now which have been created to emulate being an amp in a stompbox, and the Triple Wreck could potentially replace your own amplifier's gain control single-handedly. Brian designed the Triple Wreck to be much heavier and more vicious than any other distortion pedal out there, and it certainly did not disappoint.
Primarily, the Wampler Triple Wreck Distortion pedal has control dials for the Volume and Gain, which allow you to fine-tune your sound with ease. However, it features more than just those two dials and that's what makes the Triple Wreck such a top quality pedal...
Wampler have included a 3-band EQ in the pedal, just like you would expect on an amplifier with Treble, Mids and Bass dials, thus enabling you to recreate old school 70s and 80s rock sounds, or prog-rock style fuzz, while providing an outstanding lead guitar output on the whole.
The Triple Wreck also has a two-way toggle voice switch which goes from Hard to Brutal. Hard offers a warmer, high-gain tone while Brutal has a wider scope of sparkling, high-gain tones.
Two footswitches sit at the bottom of the pedal's face; a True Bypass switch and a Boost switch. The addition of a Boost switch as well as a Boost Contour dial blends the sounds which are created when the Boost switch has been engaged, giving you a mix of ruthless fuzz or just a load more gain on top.
The Triple Wreck is handbuilt in the USA and can be powered using either a 9V battery or a 9V DC power supply. Its robust, compact chassis make it an absolute must for your pedalboard, whether performing live or recording heavy, high-gain tones in the studio. In the words of Wampler, "this pedal should come with a public health warning"!
