The Yamaha CLP440 is a full size, 88 key weighted piano, with graded hammer (GH3) action. Complete with synthetic ivory keytops, its authentic style is matched by its concert grand sound quality, typical of the Clavinova series. The CLP440 offers a refined and nuanced resonance, reproducing the sound and string changes when your finger leaves the key; expressiveness that is captured by the model's powerful 2-way speakers (40W x 2, 16cm + 5cm x 2). Bristling with features, the Yamaha CLP440 combines the touch and feel of an acoustic grand piano with a range of touch sensitivity modes: hard, medium, soft and fixed - adjustable for the genre of music you are playing.

The CLP440 features the RGE Sound Engine that maximises tonal clarity, replicating the rich, full resonance of a real concert grand. The smooth release function, refined via feedback from many pianists, replicates the touch (graded hammer action) of a concert grand, producing a resonance that lingers upon release of the fingers, perfect for those trills, and tricky intricate passages. The sound quality of the CLP440 is impressive. The grand piano voices of the CLP440 were faithfully recorded from a Yamaha concert grand, producing an authentic tone across the entire keyboard.

The CLP440 comes complete with three pedals (damper with half pedal effect, sostenuto and soft), enabling you to expressively and faithfully recite your favourite classical or jazz pieces that often require complex pedalling. The impressive 256-note polyphony, mimicking the capabilities of a real grand piano, will ensure that the tone remains distinct and clear.

The model also features an extensive selection of voices, all powered by Yamaha's RGE (Real grand Expression) sound engine, including: 14 voices x 2 variations, stereo sustain samples, key off samples, string resonance, smooth release and damper resonance. You can then create the precise tone or effect you're after by adjusting reverb settings, brilliance and Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC). For performances that require an accompanying instrument, the Yamaha CLP440 allows dual and split layers, creating a host of musical possibilities.

Thanks to the 14 voice demo songs and 50 piano demo tracks, there is opportunity to play along to recognised piano standards, all the while improving your musical knowledge and ability. Able to record up to 10 songs and 2 tracks, you can constantly refine your ability and allow the Yamaha CLP440 to teach you a thing or two. The model is compatible with a USB audio recorder (playback, recording in WAV), and features adjustable tempo, transpose and tuning; essential features for all serious musicians. A 7-segment LED allows you to keep track of all your settings in a quick and easy manner.

The CLP440 is also highly functional, featuring a sliding key cover, keeping dust, crumbs and liquids away from the keyboard mechanism. This eradicates the need for loose fitting plastic key covers and gives the piano a natural look.
