  • Excellent Sounds and Questionable Build Quality

There are a lot of really nice sounds on this keyboard and it's a good all rounder whatever your style of music.

It feels a little cheap and plastically, and the keyboard action isn't great. Try playing it with the sound off and you'll hear what I mean.

There are hours of fun to be had with the performances that have built-in bass and drum sounds, and up to 6 variations. However, there are no intro, fills, and outros. They are labelled arp1, arp2 so for each performance you need to remember which of them sounds a bit like a fill or break. The problem with the fills are that they don't automatically move onto the next arp so you hit say arp4 which might be a drum fill and it stays like that until you then press arp1. Yes, you can sequence all of this but as it's called a performance and designed to be used as a performance I find this and the general lack of intros and outros quite limiting to these performances.

Polyphony is up to 64. Having sequenced one of the trance performances though I didn't seem to have enough left over for a piano without it noticeably cutting off notes. You can get round this by recording audio to Cubase as separate tracks but I'm yet to fathom out how I'd do this and quantise all the tracks.

The USB-out for DAW work is great and the provision of Cubase excellent.

Overall - Excellent sounds based on the MOTIF range, with lots of buttons and knobs to play with and almost worth the money in my opinion.
