Complete Your Set-Up

The Roland SYSTEM-8 Plug-Out Synthesiser takes the Japanese giant's next generation Analog Circuit Behaviour (ACB) engine - introduced in their AIRA series controllers - to even greater heights. Utilising this powerful new technology, the SYSTEM-8 is equipped with an eight-voice, three-oscillator powerhouse with a plethora of filters and effects to play with, versatile low frequency oscillators (LFOs), and a host of high-resolution knobs and sliders to manipulate your sounds with. If that wasn't enough, Roland has even enabled support for three Plug-Out synths, which means that the SYSTEM-8 can play host to some of Roland's classic synth models from the past four decades.

ACB Sound Engine

Since its release during Roland's AIRA launch, the Analog Circuit Behaviour sound engine has been lauded for its unparalleled accuracy in recreating historic analogue sounds. The system offers eight voices of polyphony, with a trio of oscillators (including a powerful sub oscillator), and the smoothest of filters that are all waiting to be put through their paces. Whether you're creating lush, warm pads, thick and fat basses, expressive melodies using tight lead tones, and combining it all to full effect, the SYSTEM-8 allows you to do it with ease and in style.

As previously stated, host slots for the amazing JUPITER-8 and JUNO-106 - the JUNO-106 is scheduled for release in 2017 - are already included and ready to go, but optional PLUG-OUT synths are also available for you to access. These include the: SH-2, SH-101, PROMARS, and many more. Using the SYSTEM-8's Performance mode, the internal synth engine can be combined with the selected PLUG-OUT synth to create a rich tapestry of super-synth patches that are customised and unique to you.

Intuitive control interface

The complexity of the sound engine has been paired with an unbelievably simple to use interface. There are 49 full-size keys, direct access LFO and Oscillator knobs, as well as Filter, Amp and FX controls for rapid real-time adjustment. Sculpting and shaping your sound couldn’t be easier or more enjoyable, with overdrive, distortion, fuzz, delay, chorus, reverb, and so much more at your fingertips.

The SYSTEM-8 has a built-in 64-step sequencer that features a TR-REC style interface with dedicated control over recording, playing, and manipulating loop sequences in real-time. Whether you want to capture single notes or chord patterns, you can build and develop sequences that suit you - including knob and slider adjustments! The integrated Arpeggio function has quick-access knobs for instantly switching patterns and styles during performances. The Chord Memory function allows polyphonic note stacks to be triggered with a single key for dynamic harmony control. Roland has even included an advanced vocoder, adding another layer of expressive, dynamic control for a professional level performance.

USB and CV/Gate connectivity

As with all of their gear, Roland has ensured that the SYSTEM-8 is equipped with the tools to slot into any production or live workspace with ease. In the studio, you can use the synth as a USB audio/MIDI interface with your DAW of choice. The knobs, sliders, and buttons work beautifully with your favourite soft synths for instant tactile control. The built in CV/Gate outputs allow you to send note/pitch data from the internal engine and step sequencer to act as a trigger for any modular synths and retro gear in your arsenal.

Once again, Roland has gone above and beyond with the SYSTEM-8 Plug-Out Synth, creating a one-stop unit that is perfect at the heart of any studio or stage setup.
