For 135 years Gretsch have been making musical instruments with one common quality, great sound. The Gretsch brand has been through turmoil and had something of a rebirth. When the Gretsch family repurchased the company in 1984.the Gretsch name has grown from strength to strength with highly constructed amazing sounding guitars. With the brand now synonymous with their collaboration with Bigsby tremolos, Gretsch has not just a distinctive look but a distinctive advantage over the competition with their modern retro look with up to date electronics.
The Gretsch G5232T Electromatic Double Jet FT Electric Guitar simply looks outstanding. From headstock to rear strap button the G5232T looks simply stunning. The range of eye-catching colour choices, the high gloss of the back and neck make this guitar look elegant and give a hint to the love and detail paid by the Gretsch team when crafting these instruments.
The intimate sparkle within the paint work adds a touch of glamour to an already highly crafted guitar. The Gretsch exudes class with its short symmetrical horns and tapered headstock. The thumbnail neo-classical inlays keep the fingerboard clear of clutter while allowing the player to still know where they are on the fretboard there are also black dot markers along the top of the neck top indicate position.
The chambered Gretsch body and arched top help the Gretsch breath a sparkling resonance into its sound. Giving a loud acoustic tone the chamber allows the passing of tonality more freely to the body and helps with volume and sustain. The Archtop is a simple yet subtle aesthetic that brings out an air of distinction to this beautiful guitar.
The most noticeable feature of the Gretsch is the silver bridge and tremolo system from Bigsby. A timeless classic design used throughout generations of musicians front The Beatles Pop music to Jazz players to rock and alternative the Trem has had a long association with Gretsch and rightly so. Allowing the player to shape and influence the tones they produce with subtle vibrato or deep dives. Owning a piece of musical history is one of the clear attractions to owning this guitar.
The neck and body are made of Mahogany, the body is chambered making it light while retaining the low register of the Mahogany. The fingerboard is made from Indian Laurel which is a slightly tighter wood than Rosewood so gives a snappier higher tone adding a nice balance to the body. The fingerboard radius is 12" making it quite flat compared to say a Fender Strat allowing the player to bend the strings without choke. The Body and the neck have white and black binding maintaining the high-quality finish already seen in the colour and gloss.
The unique Gretsch snappy yet full tone is derived from the powerful Blacktop Filter'Tron pickups in the bridge and neck helping to accentuate the resonance of the chambered body and give that quintessential Gretsch tone. There individual volume controls and a master tone and master volume for both pickups and a three-way selector switch.
The Gretsch G5232T Electromatic Double Jet FT Electric Guitar is a stunning instrument and comes in a range of modern, stylish colours with a sparkle finish to the front and high gloss finish to the back and neck. This is simply one of the best looking guitars out there and it's little wonder why generations of professional musicians choose this guitar. The Gretsch family have long maintained that all these features should come at a price that the everyday musician can afford and it really is a collection of high-end components, beautifully crafted at a remarkable price. This is still a guitar for the new guitarist looking for a long term axe or the more advanced player looking to stand out while still having the required power and tone found in other guitars.
