Despite its small size it's got depth in fathoms whilst remaining easy to use, ensuring your latest creation is at your fingertips. With eight tracks of recording and recording plus a plethora of curated sounds, loops and phrases you can record audio and MIDI with complete control, tweaking to your heart's content.

Compact Composer

The Roland MC-707 Groovebox is small yet solid, light yet awash with features and functionality. Expertly crafted sounds, beats and phrases by renowned artists and sound designers give you a musical playground to explore, allowing you to combine loops, one-shots and melodic phrases with aplomb as well as letting you utilise your own audio recordings and MIDI sequences. You can record and trigger clips, re-sample and re-arrange tracks then make them sound huge with effects. Featuring Roland's latest sound engine which melds analogue and modern PCM you get the classic Roland rhythm machines and synthesizers such as the TR-808, TR-909, TB-303, JUNO-106 and SH-101. The MC-707 in omnidirectional though, alongside these classics there's also plenty of modern digital and hybrid sounds.

The Roland MC-707 comes with a studio-grade effects palette, ensuring your music sounds polished and properly produced. All eight of the tracks have their own independent processors with an incredible amount of variety. Add chorus to give depth to your synths and pads, utilise reverbs and delays to create space and width to the mix. Use overdrive and distortion to add saturation to your instrumentation. Master bus effects also let you add filters and bit crushers and there's a master bus compressor that will glue your mixes together for added punch and clarity.

Step Up

The MC-707 has an eight-track sequencer that was designed for the modern electronic and dance-focused music producer. The TR-REC step sequencer harks back to those legendary Roland drum machine whilst 16 RGB pads let you create drum, bass and synthesizer patterns to produce your own original music. You can combine loops and one-shots with your own MIDI sequences and imported audio recordings. You can sync any imported audio with the MC-707's tempo or process it with the arsenal of onboard effects and controls, whether that's your voice or other instruments. The sequencer even stores your knob movements, letting you create amazing sweeps or add huge reverb to a single snare hit.

Hands On

There's plenty of ways to get stuck in with MC-707 in a physical way. Faders are available for each track to let you set your levels and all the knobs can be assigned to whichever parameter control you need for your sound and you can also automate all of your knob movements for live playback. The 8x2 pad array serves the dual purpose of letting you input beats and lead lines but you can also use it to trigger audio and MIDI clips, as well as letting you enter chords with velocity. The MC-707 is designed to fit easily into your existing studio set up and you can record all eight parts to individual DAW tracks and finish your song elsewhere. Sample sounds from your DAW to get backing tracks, stems or your favourite software synth.

The Roland MC-707 Groovebox has everything you need to create a song or perform a live set without a computer. With eight-track recording, sequencing, sampling, synthesizers and studio-grade effects, this self-contained production platform for modern electronic music creators can accompany you anywhere you go, whether that's on the road or in the studio.
