Paul Reed Smith's instruments have garnered the admiration of guitarists the world over for their sublime finishes, versatile tonal options and peerless playing feel. Not ones to rest of their laurels, the team at PRS are amongst the most prolific with regard to the research and advancement of guitar building techniques. As the company have stated on their website, 'The SE Custom 24 pays homage to their Maryland-made Custom 24 - the guitar the Paul Smith took to his first tradeshow in 1985, making the Custom 24 the original PRS guitar'. However, thanks to their never-ending pursuit of excellence, the PRS SE Custom 24 electric guitar in Charcoal Burst benefits from many refinements and improvements since that model back in '85.
Beautifully Bevelled
The body is deftly crafted from a combination of two fantastic tonewoods: mahogany and maple. The tonal balance between the mahogany and maple is the stuff of dreams, producing a densely textured character with a sweetly saturated response across the frequency spectrum. The contoured body shape has become a firm favourite amongst virtuoso players who appreciate the delicate lines, whilst the bevelled maple top, makes it incredibly easy to wield. PRS guitars are revered for their breathtaking finishes, and the SE Custom 24 has been treated to an eye-catching Charcoal Burst finish, the subtle grain of the maple peeking through beautifully.
Wide, thin neck for the fattest tone
Neatly fitted to the body is a snappy and response maple neck; shaped to the wide-thin profile that offers one of the most comfortable and accommodating playing feels one can experience. Attached to the neck is a sumptuous rosewood fingerboard, home to 24-frets along a very accommodating 25" scale length that allows the strings to generate full-bodied sustain. The maple/rosewood combination ensures a responsive playing feel, with a shining clarity produced in each and every note.
Custom tone with 85/15 "S" pups
Whether you're a beginner or a professional, you'll be astounded by the tonal versatility on offer in the PRS SE Custom 24. The PRS SE 85/15 "S" and Bass pickups - fitted in the bridge and neck positions respectively - are accessible through the 3-way pickup selector switch, allowing you to select either or both at the same time. Whatever style of music you play, the warmth produced by each pickup ensures that pulling out sweet tones is delightfully simple. On hand is a master volume switch, whilst the tone switch features a push/pull coil-tap to turn each pickup into single-coils for even greater tonal versatility.
The SE Custom 24 is fitted with a PRS Designed tremolo for silky smooth vibrato control. The headstock is fitted with PRS Designed tuners, maintaining your tuning with absolute precision throughout each and every performance.
The PRS SE Custom 24 is an amazing guitar that sounds as beautiful as it looks. Whatever style of music you play, from jazz to heavy metal, this model is built to ensure that every performance is a joy.
