Live 10 Intro is, as the name suggests, the perfect introduction to the world of Ableton Live. Although the features are limited, Intro is a great place to start if you're not sure whether the software will be right for you or if you only require the basic functionality. It's worth noting that upgrade paths are available to all other versions of Live 10.
One of the biggest selling points of all version of Live is the Session View mode, in which you can create clips of both audio and MIDI. This way of working means you can really play around with the structure of a song and encourage your own creative juices to flow. This view is perfect for live performance too as you can use the intuitive clip launching system alongside a range of audio effects including filters, chorus, compression, EQ, delay and much more.
If Session View doesn't sound like something you'd be interested in then don't worry, Live Intro can still be used as a standard Digital Audio Workstation. The Arrangement View lets you record audio and MIDI as you would with most sequencers and is still an extremely powerful tool in the studio. This mode is also useful for completing the tracks which you've started in session view and adding any other elements which you may want to include.
This version of Ableton Live 10 has is packaged with three instruments, each of them providing something different to help you make music. Simpler is a classic synth that's surprisingly easy to use. It's capable of a lot within its limited controls and will enable you to become more creative. A drum sampler is included too, known as Impulse. This instrument has some crazy modulation possibilities and is a great performance instrument.
