Giving you control over any standard MIDI software, or the included Presonus Studio One Artist, the Acorn Instruments MasterKey 49 Controller Keyboard features 49-keys, assignable pitch bend and modulation wheels, an assignable fader, four assignable knobs for real time control, and a 3-digit LED display. You also get a free copy of recording and production platform, Presonus Studio One Artist, to get you started.
Despite its compact design and light weight, the Acorn Instruments MasterKey 49 Controller Keyboard offers 49 velocity sensitive keys, so you don’t have to skimp down on dynamics and response speed when you’re on the road, and ensuring you’re always in full control of bass lines, drums or synth moves.
While playing, you can utilise the four knobs and fader to take control of instruments or parameters, and add articulation with the Acorn Instruments MasterKey 49’s pitch bend and modulation wheels. These wheels, and the fader cap, are outfitted with a rubberised coating, which provides a surface that is more grippable, to reduce slippage. In addition to the 49 keys there are also octave up/down buttons, to quickly shift the keyboard’s range.
The Acorn Instruments MasterKey 49 Controller Keyboard makes it easy to quickly change MIDI channels, send program changes, transpose and programme the keyboard’s other controls, all from the unit’s 3-digit LED display.
The two buttons just below the LED display (-/+) can be set up to control one of four parameters. By default these are set up to control the octave range of the keyboard (four octaves up/three octaves down). Press the two together and you can scroll through the options with the – and + buttons. This gives you options of having the buttons control Octave, Transpose, Program Change or MIDI Channel. The LED will display the options as you cycle through them.
The Acorn Instruments MasterKey 49 is really easy to set up. It doesn’t need any drivers; the keyboard just plugs in via your computer’s USB port and it’s ready to go, there is also no external power supply either, as it draws power straight from the USB connection.
You can also pair the Acorn Instruments Master Key 49 up with a footswitch via the controller’s input jack, allowing you to hook up a sustain pedal. This automatically detects the polarity of the footswitch, allowing you to connect any standard pedal.
