The Akai MPD232 Studio Pad Controller brings dynamic control to the studio or the stage in impeccable fashion. Featuring all the classic controls we've come to expect from the team at Akai - touch and velocity sensitive MPC pads, smooth faders, assignable Q-Link knobs and 8 assignable Q-Link buttons -, with a plethora of interface elements that allows you to integrate this little beauty into any set-up.
Since their introduction over 20 years ago, Akai's MPC controllers have become a much sought after tool for both producers and DJs who want to streamline their workflow, create beats on-the-fly, and chop up live mixes with exceptional dynamic control. Thanks to their touch-sensitive design - with a responsive surface that spreads to the edge of each pad -, Akai's MPC pads guarantee maximum control when laying down solo drum hits, brass stabs, and synth samples. The velocity-sensitive design means that real-time groove can be added to every track, bringing your mix to life by injecting personality into every hit.
The 16 RGB (red/green/blue) illuminated pads are organised into 4 banks that allows you to create 64 assignable controls.
With a 32-step sequencer at your disposal, you're never short of options when it comes to creating a flowing bassline or punchy back-beat. Flip the beat over, and double-up to create a 64-pattern sequencer, with optional Swing control to add a little flavour to your beat, and a Gate control to add staccato to individual notes to create a sharp attack (particularly useful for snappy snare hits).
Eight Channel Faders
Eight-channel faders enable control over integrated hardware and software instruments via USB connection. The Akai MPD232 Studio plays well with others, and encourages interaction with the supplied Ableton Live Lite software. Ableton Live Lite seamlessly integrates into the Akai set-up, with fader control directly affecting user assigned parameters within the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Whether you're working in the studio, or taking to the stage, everything you need is at your fingertips.
The low-set control surface and compact dimensions allows the MPD232 to slip into any set-up discreetly, working well alongside MIDI controllers, decks, your laptop and DAW of choice, as well as outboard synths and samplers. MIDI Time Code, and Clock Sync data is controlled with precision by the MPD232 to ensure that all of your hardware and software runs harmoniously in sync.
Included Software Bundle
Included with the MPD232 is a huge software bundle that includes the Akai Pro MPC Essentials, and Sonivox Big Bang Cinematic Percussion and Big Bang Universal Drums.
The Akai Pro MPC Essentials software provides a massive 9GB sound library, which includes sounds from the legendary MPC3000, as well as real-time adjustment and mapping of VST plugins. You can either use the MPC Essentials software as a standalone DAW, or integrate it into your current DAW as a VST, RTAS, or AU plugin.
The Sonivox Big Bang Cinematic Percussion and Big Bang Universal Drums includes completely customizable drum samples that can expand your sonic arsenal dramatically. Using a hand-crafted SJC Custom Drums sample source, with multi-velocity and multi-take samples that use various sticks and brushes, you have a huge range of sounds to play with.
