The Arturia MicroBrute is a pure analog beast of a synth. Tiny but loaded with massive features usually found on much pricier analog synths, it follows in the footsteps laid by its big brother the MiniBrute. Packed with mixable waveforms, a new sub oscillator design, the famous Steiner-Parker multimode filter, super fast envelope, syncable LFO and the new step sequencer, not to mention the patchable mod matrix the MicroBrute is an outstanding synth at a very affordable price.
The 25 mini-note keyboard is just the start, the control panel of the Microbrute gives you the ability to shape your sound. You'll find no jarring presets or menus here, just unlimited production capability. Connect the Microbrute to amplification or recording equipment and let the Microbrute guide your imagination.
It all starts with the huge oscillator sound and features the ability to mix waveforms in variable amounts as opposed to simple on / off switches that are found on many synths at four times the price. Each waveform has wave modifiers that allow even further tonal variations. While many synths need two or three oscillators to get a somewhat big sound, the Microbrute is able to achieve a much wider tonal range with just one oscillator. Enhancements such as 'overtone', 'ultrasaw' and 'metalzer' deliver a sound that you would not belive can come from such a tiny package.
The Microbrute is armed with a full featured LFO and a standard ADSR type Envelope. The routing of these modulation sources are configured in the modulation matrix. No other synth in this price range allows for this amount of flexibility. The modulation matrix allows you to control many aspects of the voice for different internal sources as well as opening the door to controlling them by external synths and modules, the possibilities are actually, endless!
Filters play a key part in the success of any analog synth and the Microbrute delivers above and beyond here too. Introduced for the first time in the Synthacon synthesizer, back in the 70’s, the Steiner-Parker filter not only gives you a lowpass mode like most other synths, but also bandpass, and high-pass, making it a highly versatile and praised boutique filter. Again, no digital synth of today can replicate the smoothness of this exceptional filter.
Unpredictable at will and highly volatile, the Microbrute packs trademark technology called Brute Factor! Inspired by a patch made on a famous vintage synthesizer. Players would connect the headphone output to the external audio input resulting in a kind of feedback loop that is ideal for filthy signals.
The Microbrute will make an excellent addition to your studio or gig setup. And with the ability to produce some of the most sonically massive analog sounds to date, you'll wonder how you lived without this little beast.
