Providing huge, sub-octave tones to bass players the world over, the Ashdown Sub-Octave Plus is capable of some ridiculous and out of this world tones. With adjustable sub note level, tone and even a distortion circuit, the possibilities are endless!
The Ashdown Sub Octave Plus has a place in many genres of music: dance, rock, metal and almost anything else can find a place for the crushingly low output this pedal produces. The fully adjustable controls mean you can tailor the tone you get from a subtle support in the lower octave right up to destructive and distorted noise. Pretty much everything is adjustable on this pedal so the range of tones you can create is amazing. The volume of the sub-octave note can be adjusted, along with a tone control for said note. When the one-knob distortion control is turned up you really start to see what this pedal is about. Yes, other pedals let you generate the sub-octave note but not many let you alter it in this way. The distortion can be tasteful at low settings but the amount of hard-hitting gain this pedal can produce when turned up to 11 will surprise you.
Effectively you have three tones you can blend between on this pedal: clean, sub-octave and distorted sub-octave. The simple and intuitive design means it's easy to achieve the right balance between these tones with almost no effort, but it also allows for plenty of experimenting when the time is right. The classic design and the VU meter which Ashdown are well known for looks great and the solid construction of this pedal ensures you'll be using it for a long time coming. All in all, the Ashdown Sub Octave Plus is a great, well-designed pedal that lets bass players have a fully adjustable sub-octave tone with an increase in tonal variation.
