The Blackstar Unity 250 1 x 12 Bass Combo Amplifier provides a powerful performance partner that can do it all. From the practise room to the main stage to the recording studio, the Unity 250 has everything you need to see you through anything.
Versatile input controls
The Unity 250 offers a delightfully intuitive top panel control layout. The instrument input has a corresponding pad switch that accommodates active and passive-powered basses. The input gain pot allows you to attenuate the signal level with an indicator to prevent unwanted signal clipping.
The Unity 250 boasts three voices to choose from that includes Classic, Modern, and Flat. Classic mode delivers valve-inspired aggression with vintage EQ for thick and meaty tones. Modern mode expands available headroom and combines it with advanced EQ for smooth, powerful tones. Flat mode offers a flat and transparent response that allows you to let your instrument's natural tone to shine. The corresponding Drive control allows you to blend in as much of your selected voice as you wish.
Along with the voicing options, Blackstar offer three overdrive options in the form of Overdrive, Distortion, and Fuzz. Overdrive offers old-school smooth, open, harmonically-dense overdrive. Distortion is a more balanced pedal-influenced distortion. Fuzz is exactly what you'd expect, a big full-on face full of fuzz.
The built-in EQ section allows you to sculpt Low and High frequency bands, with semi-parametric Mid controls that allow you to hone in on the mid-range that you desire. From heavy rock inspired fat and thick low-end through funky mid to high end energy, all you need to do is tweak these beauties to find your sweet spot and get your groove on.
Unique Response control
Blackstar's unique Response control allows you to unlock 3 power amp stages - Linear, 6L6, 6550 - to shape compression and feel. Linear allows your playing to take centre stage, 6L6 promotes the compression and punch of 6L6 power valves, and 6550 delivers the dynamics and headroom of ramped up 6550s.
Chorus and compressor
Bass playing, and compression/chorus go hand in hand, which is why Blackstar have equipped with Unity 250 with them built-in. Switchable chorus or octave with corresponding level controls on the rear allow you to add shimmer and increased breadth to your tone. The switchable compression allows you to finely hone your sound to extract a tightened attack or loose response to suit your style.
The Unity 250 has everything to get you through small to large gigs, recording direct to your DAW of choice, or simply practising in silence.
There’s an XLR output with switchable cabinet emulation, as well as a ground lift button to prevent unwanted hum from ruining your tone. The USB audio output allows you to connect to a DAW for fuss-free recordings. The headphone output enables you to practise silently, whilst the MP3/Line input allows you to plug in external audio sources to practise or jam along with.
The series effects loop features a send and return for integrating outboard effects. You'll also notice the chorus and octave blend level controls. The footswitch affords hands-free control to keep your performance ticking along smoothly.
