Playability and performance to shout about…
In recent years, drummers have been treated to a smorgasbord electronic kits offering unprecedented control, feel, and playability. However, the Alesis Strike Pro Special Edition 11-Piece Mesh Kit still manages to step things up a few notches. Wanna know how? Let’s take a look shall we…
So, what’s all the fuss about?
The 11-piece kit features a full-sized 20-inch kick, the latest-generation mesh heads and an updated Strike Pro Module with more instruments, kits, and greater versatility than ever before.
The mighty 20-inch kick drum appears more like an acoustic drum – and feels more like one too. The period of adjustment from electronic to acoustic kit (and vice versa) is minimised thanks to the closer look/feel of the Strike Pro SE.
As we’ve come to expect from Alesis kits all hardware is solid and reliable, giving drummers the opportunity to let loose in the same way that they would on an acoustic kit.
Let’s talk about mesh, baby
Across the kit you’ll find all-new, latest-generation mesh heads, dual-zone for the snare and all the toms. The result is a faster response time, natural playing feel, and effortless movement across the heads. From laying down subtle grooves to hammering out gravity blasts, the dynamic sensitivity and rapid responsiveness of the mesh heads will keep pace with you every step of the way.
3-zone = Triple threat
The Strike Pro Special Edition 16-inch ride cymbal, 14-inch crash, and 14-inch-movable hi-hat feel incredibly realistic. They are coated in a new thick comfortable rubber that marries the perfect partnership of feel, control, bounce, and volume. There’s a large bell area for enhanced playability, which is paired with a sophisticated “hammered” aesthetic.
Additionally, the cymbals are actually much quieter than traditional e-cymbals, which make them ideal for those who like to practise well into the night without disturbing others. Thanks to the new design, hi-hat control is unlike that on previous kits, giving drummers the ability to perform untethered by limitations.
Mirroring acoustic drums, the Strike Pro Special Edition‘s lugs are attached directly to the shell. The ability to directly adjust the lugs in the same way as on an acoustic kit offers the Strike Pro Special Edition superiority compared to other electronic drum kits.
For those who are familiar with acoustic drum kits, the premium Hybrid Birch wood shell snare and toms of the Alesis Strike Pro Special Edition come in standard acoustic drum sizes (8-, 10-, 12-, 14-inch) ensuring an instantly familiar feel. For those who are new to drum altogether, the layout makes it much easier to transition to an acoustic kit.
When it comes to shelling out for an instrument, Alesis appreciate that as well as producing a kit boasting high quality sounds, responsive playability, and versatility, it needs to look the part at the same time. With this in mind, the Strike Pro SE is endowed with visually commanding black hardware and gold tension rods, along with a brand-new visually distinctive mesh head design. Wherever you’re performing, the Alesis Strike Pro Special Edition would look the part at home, in the studio, or on the stage.
The brains behind the operation
Looking good means nothing if there’s nothing going on upstairs, right? To that end, the Strike Pro Module is by far the most versatile and capable module that Alesis has ever offered. To say that it is packing would be an understatement, there’s over 136 custom kits made from over 1800 instruments and 45,000 samples. We know, right?
For those who want absolute control over their creativity the module has onboard sampling capability, 16GB external card storage, and USB/MIDI connectivity, which you can use in conjunction with your favourite music production software or digital audio workstation (DAW), as well as the powerful new Strike Software Editor. With this editor, players can assemble their own custom samples into multiple velocity layer and round-robin instruments, piece together the perfect drum kit, and then transfer it onto the module via USB – pretty handy.
The Strike Pro Module’s generous 4.3-inch colour LED screen makes it nice and easy to track what is going on, displaying player settings and functions at a glance. You can play to your heart’s content and keep on top of things with minimal effort. It’s the cherry on a densely layered cake that is filled to the brim with tasty treats.
