Just ahead of NAMM, the annual trade show where many big brands announce new products, we’ve received details of the brand new Ibanez 2015 range. New signature models are a big theme this year, with Steve Vai, Paul Stanley and Joe Satriani all amongst the artists getting new releases. The classic Tube Screamer has been re-worked too, with the exciting new Tube Screamer Mini pedal putting the famous green overdrive in to a tiny casing. Here are our top picks from the new line-up, but if you want to see all of the Ibanez models that we have available right now then click here.
Love Steve Vai but can’t justify the price tag on his signature models? Your prayers have been answered! The brand new Jem JR is the mid-range Steve Vai signature model that many players have been waiting for. Don’t let that “JR” tag fool you, this is a full-size model with quality parts and all of the features you’d expect on any Vai model including monkey grip and “tree of life” inlay.
Ibanez Premium Roadcore RC720 Electric Guitar
Ibanez first released the Roadcore range back in 2012 in a bit of a shock move from a brand often (wrongly) considered exclusive to “shredders”. Needless to say, they impressed and even spawned a signature model for Chris Miller of You Me at Six, the CMM1. The new RC720 takes the Roadcore up a notch and places it in to the Ibanez Premium line, giving it specialist fret edge treatment and a pleasing Charcoal Brown Flat finish.
Ibanez JS140 Joe Satriani Signature Electric Guitar
Joe Satriani is yet another well-known Ibanez player, with several signature models already under his belt. His latest, the Ibanez JS140, features the sleek JS body style and is fitted with an Edge Zero II bridge and a push-pull tone pot, which activates a coil-split for added versatility. Ibanez have just released the new Joe Satriani Ibanez JS2450 MCP for 2016 too, which is well worth checking out!
Ibanez SRFF805 and Ibanez SRFF806 Bass Guitars
The Ibanez Bass Workshop brings us two new fanned fret models for 2015, the SRFF805 and SRFF806. Using fanned frets increases the length of the lower strings, and decreases the length of the higher strings in a similar manner to what you’d see on an acoustic piano. This is said to have a number of benefits including improved tuning stability and a more comfortable playing experience for passages that are higher up the fretboard. Plus, you can’t deny they look great!
The legendary Tube Screamer pedal has been around since the late ‘70s and has been used by just about everybody after they were made popular by the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan. New for 2015, Ibanez have housed a genuine Tube Screamer circuit (with JRC4558 IC chip) in to a nano casing for great tone that won’t take up your whole pedal board!
Ibanez PS120 Paul Stanley Signature Electric Guitar
Legendary KISS guitarist Paul Stanley brings back his eye-catching signature model with the Ibanez PS120. Featuring Seymour Duncan pickups and ornamental tailpiece, this is perfect for any KISS fan looking to channel the Starchild.
Ibanez AVN2 Acoustic Guitar
Ibanez aren’t just great at producing electric guitars and basses, they make a great range of acoustic guitars too. This new model, the Ibanez AVN2, is an all-solid mahogany parlour with premium parts including Grover tuners and D’addario EXP strings. There are no on-board electronics, but this would make a perfect recording or writing guitar for any guitarist.
