The Boss Katana 50 Combo 1x12 is the perfect stage ready amplifier that provides 50 watts of pure power through a 12-inch custom speaker – ideal for the gigging musician. Not only do you get access to a whole host of BOSS effects, but the undeniable reliability of BOSS engineering partnered with Waza technology and ingenuity to bring you a highly expressive amplifier that delivers class-defying power.

Artistic Expression through Waza technology

The Katana draws its name from the traditional sword carried by the historic samurai of Japan, which represents honour, precision, and artistry in Japanese culture. The Katana range, born of the highly coveted development process behind the Waza amplifier, adopts the majestic swords name with pride and offers guitarists a universe of artistic expression, cutting tones and epic sound response at all volumes which has been honed by generations of expertise in the field. Proprietary circuit designs and meticulous tunings offer you the next generation in rock amplifiers.

50 watts of power and a custom 12inch speaker

The Katana-50 delivers a gorgeous array of tones, offering the gigging musician a fantastic option to tour, record and practice with. The 50-watt combo amplifier delivers its sound through a custom 12-inch speaker which is ideal for cutting through effortlessly in any band scenario without losing any of the subtle nuances of your playing. The custom 12-inch speaker has been specially designed by the geniuses responsible for Waza technology to deliver exceptional sound and optimize the speaker and cabinet character to bring you the punch you need and presence usually only associated with high-end amp designs.

Innovative Power Control

Cranking up your amp to get the best tone is not always ideal, especially if you’re practicing at home. With this in mind, the brains behind the Katana amplifier range have integrated an innovative Power Control that allows you to enjoy all of the tonal qualities of the amplifier and same response at lower volumes. This means you can hone your sound at all volume levels in any situation, and record your perfect sound without having to crank the amp to ear-shattering levels. For those who record at home, or the professional guitarist who wants to hear exactly how their live set up will sound without blowing out the windows, you’ll definitely appreciate this feature.

Five Selectable Amp Characters

Along with the other amplifiers in the Katana range, the Katana 50 features five selectable amp characters: Clean, Crunch, Lead, Brown, and Acoustic. Each of these beautifully engineered amplifier characters have been meticulously fine-tuned by the BOSS engineering team to bring the discerning guitarists a wide variety of professional sounds and tonal capabilities. Guitarists will appreciate the fact they can go from crystal clear clean tones, to crunchy distortion and searing leads tones at the touch of a button, but will undoubtedly fall in love with the Brown and Acoustic characters. Brown derives its essence from the Waza amp and provides the player with a searing, yet refined high-gain tone which is highly sought after by some of the world’s greatest rock guitarists. The Katana-50’s versatility is shown ever more by the inclusion of the Acoustic character which provides a natural tone for those who play acoustic-electric guitars.

Powerful tone settings & Access to a suite of BOSS effects

To provide guitarists with unrivalled tonal capabilities, the Katana-50 includes integrated access to 55 BOSS effects which can be completely customised using the free BOSS Tone Studio editor software. 15 different BOSS effects can be loaded into the amp at one time and players can use up to 3 effects simultaneously. Dial in your sounds quickly and accurately and store amp effects settings to recall instantly, via the amplifier or optional footswitches and expression pedals for hands-free control.

Solid construction

In typical BOSS fashion, the Katana-50 is solid in construction with easy carry handles to ensure that it is gig ready and will last a lifetime of touring and packing it in a tour bus. The 11.6kg weight ensures that carting it to and from gigs, studio sessions and practice is a breeze, too! The streamlined solid black design with contrasting white BOSS logo and Katana insignia looks striking yet does not detract from the overall understated look of the amplifier. The Katana-50 is a perfect option for the discerning musician who needs a beautiful sounding, reliable and cool looking amp to gig, tour, record and practice with.

Posted on 15/06/2019 by Wow- just sums it up really. Awesome sound, awesome look, awesome. And the price. WoW. Does it work with guitars? Probably. Can you shred? Well I don’t know cuz I’m new lol. Should you buy it? Probebly. Would oasis use it? Yes. Would the Stones use it? I wouldn’t know. Would Johnny Marr use it? Gotta ask him LOL! Thanks check me out on utube for my non-biased real reviews of classic rock and role- see ya in the next one. Peace out- from the Slay. Also would anyone want to start a band with me? Looking for a singer/drummer/basser/keyboarder/guitariest/ music teacher- let me no what you think guys? Can I get a thumbs for us Worker Bees livin’ how we should. But remember, don’t look back in anger (think that’s from the Stones but don’t no xp). Also would like you guys to check out my podcast where I interview young and upcoming mucsission (guitar only)! Peace out and love
Posted on 23/10/2018 by Currently the best mod amp on the market in my opinion. Built in effects are decent. Watt power control is a great addition that gives variable headroom.
Posted on 02/10/2018 by Wow, just wow... what an amazing amp. This is perfect for bedroom practice to mini gig

First off, it is loud even on 0.5w so that is brilliant for bedroom practicing without annoying the whole house. I did a sound traveling test and on 0.5w is was clear and loud in my room but the rest of my house only heard light sounds at max and couldn’t hear it when someone had a tv on.
Set up for me was a little slow but fun as I’m a noob to all this, however I got my amp setup how I like it and have a better understanding because I was fiddling with all the settings. I encourage you all to play with the settings as it helps you to understand what each setting can achieve.

Secondly, I must say the amp is bigger then I had in my head so I was excited to see the size amp when i was unboxing it. The biggest surprise was in its weight. It is lighter then you expect and the handle on top proves how light it is by not stretching when picking up.

Anything bad?
-The box had a slight “punch” hole but I believe delivery was responsible for that and nothing was effected inside.
-I can’t use my iPad with the amp just my laptop (I hardly use my laptop) but that is a personal preference.
Posted on 21/01/2018 by I bought the katana about 3 months ago and since I did it’s been amazing - great sound, takes pedals very well. The clean channel is just amazing, the Brown channel is extremely good - it has great sounding reverb and nice effects and is very loud. I've been playing on 0.5w and its great for bedroom practise and you could probably gig with this amp. I am a black metal guitarist and the gain sounds great - I would recommend to anyone looking for a budget amp
