The Boss RC-3 Loop Station Compact Pedal may be small but it has some seriously powerful features. Three hours stereo recording time, storage for 99 loops, a "real drums" rhythm guide, and USB 2.0 compatibility make the Boss RC-3 amazingly compact for such an advanced Loop Station pedal.
Huge recording capability
With three hours of internal stereo audio recording and 99 memory locations, you can literally record as many ideas as you like, and you don't need to worry about recording longer phrases either. With the Boss RC-3 Easily record phrases that are extremely long. Using stereo effects is also easy, as there is a true stereo signal path, so if you want to use stereo delays, and the like, you can record it and play it back using only the RC3 Loop Station.
There is an auto-record mode on the Boss RC-3, that will start as soon as an audio signal is detected, and there is a count in mode, that will give you one bar of rhythm before the recording starts. This makes it easy to record in a variety of different circumstances. There are also instant undo and redo controls for overdubs and recordings, so you can quickly progress, without worrying about ruining your recordings.
Built in rhythm
There are ten types of rhythm types built-in. The Boss RC-3 Loop Station has presets for Rock, Pop, Funk, Shuffle, R&B, and Latin. You can set tempo, tap tempo and choose a rhythm and the settings will be saved along with your phrase. You can control the level of the rhythm using the dedicated knob, so you can record with the beat, and then cut it out for playback if you wish.
The standard USB input lets you directly import and export 16-bit/44.1kHz WAV files (up to 1.7GB in size) into the Boss RC-3. This functionality massively extends the potential for use in studios, and for performing to loops and backing tracks on stage. You can work on your phrases in DAWs and then export them back on, after applying effects and processors.
There is also an aux in on the RC-3, so rather than just recording instruments directly you can run the output from a mixing desk, MP3 player, CD player or other source directly.
