The BOSS TU-30 Tuner and Metronome inherits the main features of its predecessor, the TU-80, and delivers the same superb functionality in a more compact form. The TU-80 was itself already pocket-friendly, but the TU-30 means that it is even easier to take these essential tools with you wherever you go. Whether you're practising at home, tuning up before a jam session, hitting the recording studio, or taking to the stage, the TU-30 should be with you at all times.
The tuner supports chromatic tuning, and is equipped to work with electric guitars and basses, as well as acoustic instruments. The TU-30 also offers flat tuning, which means that "drop" tuning and extended range models - 7-string guitars and 6-string basses - can be tuned with precision. The Accu-Pitch function sounds an indicative tone when the correct pitch has been achieved, so whatever note you're tuning to, you can rest assured that your tuner is as reliable as can be without even needing to look down at the display. However, should you prefer to keep an eye on the tuning needle as a reference, you'll find the LCD display easy to read. The reference pitch function makes it easy to verify tuning by ear.
As every musician knows, a metronome is an essential tool in any practise routine or warm-up ritual. The TU-30 boasts a tempo range from 30 to 250 bpm, with a wide range of rhythm styles to select from: quarter note; eighth rest and note; eighth note; triple; triple with centre rest; sixteenth note; and clave (3-2, 2-3).
Portability and convenience
The convenience of the reduced dimensions of the TU-30 are met with a simplistic power supply - two AAA batteries -, which boasts an impressive 50 hours of continuous use before needing to be replaced. As well as having an input that allows you to connect any pickup powered guitars and basses, the built-in microphone enables acoustic instruments to be recorded with the same level of accuracy.
Each unit is built to the same high level of quality we expect from all BOSS products, and come supplied with a pair of batteries to get you started, as well as an owner's manual and safety leaflet.
