The original Boss VB-2 pedal was first released in the early 80s and it turned out to be a highly regarded piece of kit. As this stompbox pedal was so innovative at the time, it has remained sought after ever since. Consequently, Boss have reintroduced it with a modern twist in the form of the Waza Craft VB-2W. This takes all the fantastic features from the original pedal but now includes more depth and vibrato range, but most importantly, it still has a completely analog circuitry.
Boss have introduced the new Waza Craft series from which the VB-2W has been reborn. The word ‘Waza’ is taken from the Japanese language and signifies art and technique. The VB-2W carries the Waza symbol on the stompbox to set it apart from its predecessor, and boasts a wealth of top quality craftsmanship. Once the pedal had been designed, Boss performed final sound checks to perfection.
As mentioned, the VB-2W offers more range and control than its precursor. When in standard mode you are presented with the warm, bucket brigade analog vibrato tone and you can modify both the rate and depth of the vibrato while the Rise Time dial controls the amount of time before the effect reaches its full force. Boss have added three switchable modes to further shape your vibrato. Latch mode provides you with a normal stompbox, while Unlatch will only engage the effect when the pedal is pressed. Lastly, the Bypass mode removes the bucket brigade from the path of the signal to eradicate any time delay.
The Boss Waza Craft VB-2W is a superb, modern take on the original vibrato pedal from the 80s with up-to-date features to allow you to control your vibrato effect in real time. It also comes with a five year warranty.
