PA Speakers - Active vs Passive

When it comes to PA systems and their speakers you need to know the difference between Active and Passive. Why? It could mean the difference between being heard for all the right reasons or all the wrong reasons.

Active speakers have a built-in in amplifier so all that you need to do is plug-in, switch on, and you are good to go. 

Passive speakers don't have a built-in amplifier so they require a bit of help in order to power them in the form of an external mixer or amplifier. However, make sure that your amp and passive speakers are compatible with regard to impedance and power ratings or you will produce smoke rather than sweet sounds.
