The Electro Harmonix Cathedral Deluxe Stereo Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal offers seven different types of digital reverb plus digital echo, in a pedalboard-friendly form that offers you studio quality reverb wherever you are. Giving your guitar tone a God-like presence is just a footswitch away thanks to this little beauty.
The Cathedral is equipped with some special features that include: two SPRING modes that includes the Spring reverb of the hallowed EHX Holy Grail, and an Accutronics Spring tank emulation. As well as superior HALL, ROOM, PLATE, and REVERSE reverb algorithms, the GRAIL FLERB mode is based on the Holy Grail Flerb with increased user control. The sweet shimmering tones to magnificent soundscapes that could swallow you whole, the Cathedral is a wonder that needs to be heard to be fully appreciated.
Solid EHX build quality
As we've come to expect from the team at EHX, the pedal is built like a tank and ready for life on the road. The intuitive interface makes it very easy to dial in your settings with ease. Whether you want to go for a preset tone or sculpt your own sound, you'll be up and running in no time. Across the front panel, you'll find: BLEND; REVERB TIME; DAMPING/TONE; FEEDBACK; PRE-DELAY; PUSH PRESET/MODE. The MODE pot allows you to access the seven reverb effects on offer. The MODE knob also has a push switch that can be used to save and load presets.
The PRE-DELAY knob sets the pre-delay time for the reverb, giving you control over the time delay between striking a note and hearing the reverb kick in (in ECHO mode it sets the delay time for echoes). The FEEDBACK knock attenuates the amount of signal sent from the output delay back to its input, taking it from subtle and discrete echoes to multiples for each note. If you're looking for an all-powerful wall of sound, then ramp up this beauty.
The DAMPING/TONE knob allows you to gracefully shape the frequency response of the pedal, depending on which setting you are accessing. Each one responds in its own unique way, from tempering high frequencies to acting as a low or high pass filter. The REVERB knob adjusts the length of reverb decay, from very short to infinite! From simplistic melodies to complex overdubs, the creative possibilities are endless.
The BLEND knob controls the wet/dry control for the effects output, from 100% dry to 100% wet. Adjusting between the two will give you a sweet combo of both. The TAP/INFINITE footswitch enables you to do two functions: control pre-delay time with tap control or enabling infinite reverb by holding the footswitch down. The BEAT LED provides a useful visual indicator by flashing at the same rate as the current pre-delay time setting.
The Cathedral offers full stereo connectivity, with MONO/Left and R inputs and outputs. You can either use the full stereo setup, use the pedal in mono mode, or even use a mono input to stereo output. The Cathedral is equipped with 24-bit AD/DA converters, which ensures that your tone and the reverb effect sounds as smooth as possible. All you need to do is connect the Cathedral's supplied AC adapter into the 9V power jack and you are good to go!
