The Electro Harmonix Tone Corset Analog Compressor Guitar Effects Pedal gives you guitar tone a tight squeeze without compromising on signal quality. This diminuitive unit is pedalboard friendly and perfect for creating punchy rhythm chops and soaring leads. Whether you're playing fingerstyle, flat-picking, or using a slide, the Tone Corset will ensure that whatever the volume, your notes will stretch out for as long as you wish.
Compression is great for balancing out dynamics, so your clean riffs and licks pop out rather than sounding flat or lifeless. When playing with an overdriven signal, a compressor can give the sound the push that it needs to ensure a beefy output. If you're a funk player that wants to guarantee your tightly executed chord playing shines, or a country player who wants their frenetic hammer-ons and pull-offs to ring out without being lost in a flurry of notes, the Tone Corset is just what you need.
The control layout of the Tone Corset is easy to read, and highly intuitive. There are four knobs for you to adjust: Volume; Sustain; Blend; and Attack. The Volume knob adjusts the output level of the effect, so that when you hit the footswitch, the change in level can be anywhere from subtle to dramatic. The Sustain knob controls the level of compression, taking your tone for the dry unaffected signal to a heavily compressed tone. The Blend knob adjusts the mix of the dry and the compressed signal sent to the output, giving you exceptional control over how your tone is affected. The Attack knob dictates how quickly the compressor recovers.
The Pad switch enables the input signal to be tempered in order to prevent unwanted distortion when using hot-sounding, high gain or high output pickups, bass guitar signals, and similar instruments. The footswitch activates/deactivates the pedal, and is equipped with True Bypass to ensure your dry signal remains unblemished when the pedal is inactive.
As we've come to expect from the team at Electro Harmonix, the Tone Corset is built to a very high standard of quality. All controls and switches respond smoothly and dutifully, with a reassuringly resilient feel. The pedal can be powered either using a 9-Volt power supply or battery, with the battery compartment located on the underside of the unit.
