The solid sitka spruce top sings with a clear, meaty tone and strong projection. What’s more this wood lends itself well to being played with force, cutting through any mix. Sitka also improves in tonal character the more it is played in, so you have a great excuse to keep playing your Epiphone AJ-220S Acoustic Guitar.
Also adding to the Epiphone AJ-220S Acoustic Guitars tonal colouration are the select mahogany back & sides. Giving the guitar a natural, warm tone the mahogany brings focus to the treble and bass as well as adding to the powerful projection of the AJ-220S.
A hardwood bridge glued at a precise point brings stable intonation and tone to the Epiphone AJ220S Acoustic Guitar. As well as coping with the strain of the guitars main stress point the hardwood also complements the spruce top to further enhance the instruments tone.
The Epiphone AJ 220S Acoustic Guitars natural finish is offset beautifully by a black binding and a classic tortoiseshell pickguard adorned with the iconic Epiphone ‘E’.
With the spruce top responding well to being played hard and the hardwood bridge keeping intonation in check the Epiphone AJ-220S Guitar needed a neck that was going to keep up. Epiphone have therefore supplied the AJ-220S with an okoume neck that has been glued in with a dovetail joint at the 14th fret.
The Epiphone AJ-220 S Acoustic Guitar’s 25.5” scale neck also features Epiphone’s SlimTaper shape that’s both comfortable and more than capable of being played with speed. Topping this is a hardwood fingerboard with Mother-of-Pearl dot inlays. The Epiphone AJ220 S Guitars headstock features the classic Sloped Dovewing shape and comes with premium tuners.
