Details

Epiphone’s most popular acoustic model the Advanced Jumbo style has been going since 1930 and has gained popularity with musicians across all genres. Both loud and well balanced this versatile guitar sits just as well in the studio as it does on the stage, making the Epiphone AJ-220SCE Acoustic an excellent instrument for beginners and professional singer/songwriters alike. Now with a beautiful elegant Venetian cutaway giving you easy access to the upper frets and Shadow's Performer Tuner preamp system and NanoFlex low-impedance pickup the Epiphone AJ 220S CE Acoustic Guitar is better than ever. With a large lower bout and smaller, round upper bout the Epiphone AJ-220SCE Acoustic has a ‘bell’ shape that gives the guitar a balanced tone that plays well alongside vocals.

With a solid sitka spruce top the Epiphone AJ-220 SCE Acoustic Guitar offers crisp, clear highs with a brilliant projection that’s capable of cutting through any mix. This wood loves to be played and will offer you an improvement in tonal character the more you play it and as it ages.

A select mahogany body takes care of the lower end to offer deep, rich, warm bass and treble tones, which only add to the Epiphone AJ-220SCE Acoustic Guitars powerful projection.

A tonal match to the spruce top the Epiphone AJ 220SCE Acoustic Guitar features a rosewood ‘reverse-belly’ bridge with a compensated saddle. Coping with the strain of the guitars neck this bridge keeps the guitar’s intonation and tone rock solid.

Put in place with a glued dovetail joint the 25.5” scale mahogany neck offers incredible strength, tone and sustain. Satin finished and carved to a ‘60s SlimTaper D profile the Epiphone AJ220S CE Guitar’s neck is smooth, fast and simply a joy to play. Topping this is a 12” radius, 20 medium jumbo fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and 1.68” nut measurement.

The Fishman Presys II Onboard Preamp System gives you a truer representation of the instrument's voice and even more options than before. This system offers a soundhole mounted preamp with rotary controls to sculpt your sound to suit your style. This pickup and preamp configuration provides a truer acoustic sound without the harshness, picking up the string vibrations as well as those of the guitar's top and body.

Posted on 03/04/2016 by This is my first guitar and was only bought on the basis of wanting it to be big and black. At the time of purchase I had no real appreciation of the differing tonal qualities, the richness that a spruce top could provide or the difference that certain gauge strings could make.

The guy in the Dawsons Manchester store was extremely helpful in helping me 'pick' this guitar which I believe was the best choice for me.

Since performing at clubs and open mic's I have had quite a lot of people ask questions of its make, price, build etc believing it to be a much more expensive guitar than it is. I must confess after 18 months ownership I still love the sound it produces and even though I have tried out several other makes costing at least 10 times what I paid for mine, I still have no desire to change it for anything else. I love my Epiphone AJ-220 SCE.
