Named after one of the most famous streets in the world, the Epiphone Broadway was originally created in 1931 to inspire musicians in the same way that the heralded New York avenue does. At the time of this instrument’s conception New York was the capitol of the archtop world and swing was at its height; the perfect time for the model to thrive. Even after all this time the Broadway still never fails to impress, just ask award-winning jazz pro and Epiphone Broadway lover, Nick Colionne.
The original Epiphone Broadway Archtop Guitar set the benchmark for all-encompassing, large-voiced jazz tone, with one for largest lower bout dimensions of any archtop; being 17-inches across.
The current model carries on this tradition, while the body is made up of a spruce top and a maple body. Both of these woods are known for their bright sound, so together they produce a crisp snappiness with a great depth of tone and exceptional resonance; perfect for the jazz players that the model was intended for.
Set and glued into the body of the guitar, the hard maple neck of the Epiphone Broadway is offered with a SlimTaper profile for the quick and easy play it is famed for providing. This is joined by a rosewood fingerboard with a radius of 12-inches and block and triangle pearloid and abalone position inlays, which are matched by a mother-of-pearl vine inlay at the large clipped ear headstock.
Traditional Bridge and Tailpiece
At the headstock you’ll find a set of 16:1 ratio Grover machine heads, while at the other end of the guitar’s 25.50” scale length is an adjustable, floating rosewood bridge and a traditional Frequensator split-trapeze tailpiece; completing the authentically vintage look, sound, and feel of the Epiphone Broadway.
All hardware is finished in gold, matching the Natural hue of the body nicely and giving a superior finish to the guitar.
A Classic Pair
