The Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO Electric Guitar offers exceptional quality at an affordable price, making this a fantastic guitar for those who want a workhorse for touring with and versatile instrument in the studio. Combining highly versatile tone-shaping controls with robust hardware and a delightful playability ensures that the Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO will make a welcome addition to any guitarist's arsenal.
Classic Les Paul style
The Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO benefits from the single-cutaway body profile that we've all come to know and love. The body is built using mahogany, which establishes a rich and vibrant mid-range energy. Paired with this is a gorgeous AAA flame maple veneer top that not only creates a delightful visual aesthetic, but also provides a crisp high-end clarity that rounds out the tones beautifully. Elegant single-ply binding encircles the body top to complement the finish beautifully.
Fast-playing, comfortable neck
Joined to the body is a steady and reliable mahogany neck, which is shaped to the fast playing 1960's SlimTaper D-profile for a substantial yet manageable playing feel. Paired with the neck is a glorious pau ferro fingerboard, which is home to 22 medium-jumbo frets that are adorned with pearloid trapezoid position inlays to guide your way in style. The 12-inch fingerboard radius provides a flatter playing surface for executing seamless technique on.
Versatile ProBucker pickups
The Plustop PRO is equipped with a pair of Epiphone ProBucker 2 and 3 pickups fitted in the neck and bridge positions respectively. Thanks to push/pull coil-tapping, you can extract a vast array of tones with ease from this wondrous pair. Epiphone have gone to great lengths to ensure pristine tonal integrity by utilising sand-cast Alnico II magnets, high quality 4 conductor lead wire and vacuum wax potting to minimise the chance of dust causing electromagnetic interference. The same alloy as that used by Gibson - 18% nickel silver - has been employed to promote greater transparency and a crisp output. Whatever style of music you're tackling, the ProBuckers can segue between anything from country to heavy metal with the greatest of ease.
As noted above, the Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO is built to endure the rigours of the road. The body is home to a LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, which creates a seamless transition between strings and body for steadfast intonation and enduring sustain. The headstock is set to Epiphone's standard 14-degree angle, which puts greater pressure on the nut and contributes to the impressive intonation and sustain. Grover tuning machines with 18:1 gear ratio upholds tuning integrity precisely throughout the most demanding of performances.

The neck is very wide, but in my opinion it's easier to play barre chords on a wider neck.
It's also heavy, just like the older 58-59 Les Pauls.
